What have you done to your P5 today?

i am gonna go to sherwin williams i gues and c if they can mix my color for me. so what as far as sanding is needed to get it to come out right?

i think i am going to go w/ the Duplicolor Daytona Yellow Engine Enamel and Clear Engine enamel to do my strut bar and valve cover. sound good?

amsgator - got my duplicolor from crappy tire... it was from their metalcast line, no temp indications iirc... strut bar doesn't touch the engine, so you shouldn't have to worry about heat requirements :)

well autobarn has it for 4.99+5.95 ship (for both cans the shipping is same) a can. and i decided i'm just doin the strut bar now. will one can be enough or do i need two?

do u have a link to buy? autobarn doesnt have the metalcast. i was intending on getting one can of daytona yellow (closest match to my car color as i can find) and one can of clear... :-\ if one can will do the job....

crappy tire aka canadian tire... don't know if it's available online. you don't need the metalcast; it was just the 'line' that the anodized blue was availabel in. and yes, one can should be plenty. just make sure to sand the strut bar prior to painting so the new stuff adheres better. i got lucky and was able to use the sandblaster at my dad's office which got 95% of all the red paint off prior to painting it blue.

yea i looked on their site and they dont have the color in metalcast. i checked canadian tire online and apparently they only ship in canada b/c it asks for a postal code...and US codes dont work. so i'll just get one can of the yellow and one of clear (both engine enamel)

so sand really good, coat one, sand, coat 2, clear coat?

Yeah, mine was yellow before, I sanded almost through the yellow first. Then painted a thin coat, sanded, and painted again. While it was drying the second time it fell into the grass so I had to sand and paint one more time lol. I didnt use a clear coat and it looks fine, clear coat wont hurt though. Just make sure to wipe the bar down good after sanding it to get all the dust off.

did you hang it or what?

That would work, but the place I usually hang things got cut down lol. I was just painting it on the box the guy shipped it to me in. My dumb ass didnt flatten the box and the wind blew it over into the grass:(

and what about primer? did you use any?

Nope, I had primer sealer lying around too and I didnt bother with it. The paint will stick just fine if you sand it well.
