What have you done to your P5 today?

this is my first post i drove my 03 MP5 home from the dealer and put air in the tires. i got rid of my sporttrac for this MP5 got to love 140 miles on a 1/4 tank of gas. mods to come rims some one switched out the stock 16's for some 14'' hubcaps off of a 626.a short throw shifter is in the plan.

I also used it on my side repeaters.. :) Did a few coats, then cleared it so it didnt look "matte"
just curious what you used for a clear. i tinted my tails with niteshades and used a clear that was safe for use on plastics (because i know some 'regular' clears can actually cause plastic to melt or craze). i did a few coats, but they still look somewhat dull...

WEEEEEELLLLLLCCCCCOOOOMMMMMEEEEE!!!!

wow I've never seen a Protege5 with hubcaps where it wasn't just a winter thing. Post pics if you have any :)

How the Protege5 treating you? I love it soooooooooooo much :D. Some people call me obsessed, I call it dedicated lol.

I have a set at home that I painted with some gloss black and clear. It looked really good, but decided to swap back in a set of stockies, because it looks better on a darker car than on white. :)

OK KanseiZM here you go. Three mods putting the P5 at a max of 142.9 WHP.
Again this is a Mustang Dyno and shop temp was a hair over 100 degrees last friday. Three straight passes within 5 minutes of each other.
Pretty obvious where the VCTS does it's thing.
I actualy plan on trying this with a different manifold (no VCTS) before doing the engine swap, maybe help a few people who are wondering about those Intake Manifolds.

ok i'm not trying to call BS at all i'm just confused about the 143 WHP with 3 mods (ZE cam, Intake, and header).
I've bee following P5 NA mods for years now and it took a whole lot more to get him there. IDK it's just confusing the s*** outta me.

lets take twilight's mods for example:
microtech LT8S EMS,
Ported Head,
Port Matched Intake Manifold,
Custom Cams,
AWR Stainless Header (Coated and Custom Modified),
2.5" Exhaust System (Mandrel Bent),
Adjustable Cam Gears,
Fidanza Flywheel,
Injen CAI,
Aluminum Crank Pulley,
OBX FPR,
NGK Iridium Spark Plugs,
Magnecor Spark Plug Wires,
Optima Yellow Top Battery,
Custom Grounding Wires
twi.jpg

all this got him to about 140WHP

so what the deal? any thoughts

Every Dyno is different and they are all going to give different numbers. For the most part dynos are best for measuring improvements when you put on new parts. If you want a good indication of fast your car is take it to the track.

The other possibility is that the dyno took the WHP and recalculated and actually gave him crank hp which would make sense.

Late welcome but welcome nonetheless. Why did they throw 14's with hubcaps on??!! I might be able to understand for winter driving but it is July for goodness sakes. lol Anyway enjoy your new ride, bet you can corner a little faster now(glare)

I hadn't considered that, it makes perfect sense. They must have done that. 142 crank HP would be like 110whp, which would be respectable given those mods.

yup. look at the slip closer ~118 @ ~5251rpm
that makes more sense

Actualy no. The Dyno measures WHP.
Earlier this year this Dyno was compared with 2 other local Dynos, one of them being HorsePowerFreaks or TorqueFreaks, and both cars tested registered within 1-2% of the WHP on each Dyno.

Yes but the red line (HP) still goes up to 142. The Blue line (Torque) maxes at 121 just before the 5251RPM mark when the VCTS drops it.
