What have you done to your P5 today?

The P5 is still incapacitated :'( ... It looks like it's going to be that way until next Friday. I just need to find a way to get the car about 14 mi. with a huge oil leak without seizing the engine.

Does anyone know if water will screw up a MAF? Just drops not totally submerged? Somehow water got into my intake track although I have no leaks anywhere (perfect vacuum) (eyeballs)

Don't know the answers to your questions, but gl with getting her better!!

Also forgot to mention that I got a yellow love note from the California Highway Patrol for having my front windows tinted. I was so mad because I was in the slow lane with minimal cars on the freeway at noonish today and out of nowhere comes the flashing lights. I was cruising at a nice 65MPH minding my own business and obeying every traffic law. The state of CA must need some cash I assume!

I drop my windows when I get pulled over. Works like a charm. Although it might be awkward if the cop pulls you over specifically for the tint =P

:'( We'll all miss your P5 that reminded us all that even in New England a car could remain looking as good as the day it rolled off the line in Hiroshima.

You should start a "P5 Memories" thread with a progression of pics for us all to b**** to you about.. stupid low mileage P5 makin us all look bad haha

Thanks all. If I have some time I will do just that, but really there were not a ton of mods done to my P5, just many little personal touches to keep her looking very clean. Also helps that the car stays in a garage almost all day and night. I'll never leave NEPOC. You guys rock!

I dyno'd my car yesterday and I'm now at 118.38 whp.

Nice curve! Wow. Interested in your mods as well.

First off that nice smooth power curve is not from a Protege or P5 ECU. I have a MP3 ECU.

Performance mods:

MP3 ECU.
NOLOGY Hotwires
RACTIVE 4-1 header.
Jet-Hot ceramic coating inside & out of the header.
Mental Addiction Motorsports high flow catted midpipe.
MAGNAFLOW cat back exhaust.
FIDANZA light weight flywheel.

The last time I ran the dyno my max whp was 116.5. The only additions were the nology wires and the flywheel for an additional 2 ponies on the ground.

The numbers seemed a little low for everybody. Tony's Cobra usually runs around 450 whp and he was only at 430 to the rear wheels. Jay did a dynopac tune the night before with his new piggyback ecu and CP-E headers and was at 202 on his 6 wagon. At the shop on Saturday he didn't hit 190 on the dynojet. Tim with his white 6 was 182 whp and the last time he dyno'd with me he was at 184 whp.

So with that in mind I could possibly be at 120 whp. Next on my adgenda is custom ground cams and an MPI piggyback.

Mazda claims that the P5 is a 130 horsepowered car and I will have 130 to the ground and be all motor. Screw that 95 whp crap from the factory.(ricer)

Took the 8 out for a 7:30am Sunday drive. Almost nobody on the roads, sun was bright but chilly air. Just cruised around local twisties and jumped on the highway for a quick jaunt to have my 120mph speed fix. That was in 5th gear and I really did not want to get in trouble so I backed off quick. Was a beautiful start to a most eventful day at my house.

I had a good weekend for cars!
On friday night, I did the rear wiper mod to my P5, wicked easy, so then I changed the plugs in my miata.

on saturday, I took all the panels out of my p5 to get to the struts, then I helped my buddy and his dad work on is 2004 Ford F250 v10

on Sunday, I took a ride out to cape cod at the asscrack of dawn to go hang with Astral and the NEPOC guys to do some suspension work. We changed the struts on Chyler's car, then did the struts and springs on mine. Espiler and Tokicos baby! I had to leave before they finished Chyler's new muffler.

Damn that sounds just like my weekend lol. Friday, put seats in the Miata. Saturday checked my ride heights, shock settings, tire pressures, and got my tires balanced on the Miata, then ripped out the rear of the P5 to get to the shocks to soften them a bit. Drove down to Macon in the Miata Sat. night, then to the autocross Sunday morning :)
