What have you done to your P5 today?

Oh you know I will alex..anything new with the miata?

Trying to pick up some rims with street tire for it and trade the ones with R-Comps, but everyone around here has no clue what they are worth...lol...keep getting trades for super subpar s***...finishing up the sub box, been waiting on the Optima to come in for that...also bought another train horn setup for the front that is a bit smaller...gonna try to hide it behind the bumper...

Ok, today im planning on doing alot of stuff, unless I fall asleep. lol

Redo the other 3 doors. (material replacement)
Swap rims
Clean up engine bay
Well see how it goes. =)

The one you had listed is out of Hong Kong...there's one for 8 bucks more outta LA.....might be getting that next week....hmmm

I bought one off ebay that has the ELM chip... and looks like the auction you linked to. Works great on what I have tried so far...

And even tho its bluetooth I can still hook up 2 the px w a bluetooth adapter.

I know, im quoting myself..

Anyway i did a bit of reading on that OBD2 Bluetooth device, and it doesnt have the protege under Available cars.

but it does say this under Not Available Vehicles: Mazda 323 Protege 2003 (OBD-I)

I thought our cars are OBD2? So would it still work on the 02 Pro5??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CAN-...t=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item45f9c0fca4 its all here. Id really like to have this, but not sure now :/ Can anyone help me out?

EDIT : found more info, from another seller:
All the cars and light trucks built and sold in the USA after January 1, 1996 were required to be OBD-2 equipped.
The port will be in the form of a standard (J1962) connector 16-pin as shown below:
D992_2.jpg

and what protocol do we have on the proteges?

The item works on the following protocols:

OBD-II Protocols:

ISO15765-4 (CAN)

ISO14230-4 (KWP2000)

ISO9141-2

J1850 VPW

J1850 PWM

Output protocol: RS232

Baud rate: 9600 or 38400

Indicator LEDs: OBD Tx/Rx, RS232 Tx/Rx, Power

Operating voltage: 12V, internal protection from short circuits/overvoltages

Nominal idle current: 45 mA

EDIT 2: ok i guess im answering my questions now...
but i think this should answer it:
On 1996 and later vehicles, you can tell which protocol is used by examining the OBD II connector:

J1850 VPW --The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, and 16, but not 10.
ISO 9141-2/KWP2000 --The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 4, 5, 7, 15, and 16.
J1850 PWM --The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, 10, and 16.
CAN --The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 4, 5, 6, 14 and 16.

Pin 2 - J1850 Bus+
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground
Pin 5 - Signal Ground
Pin 6 - CAN High (J-2284)
Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Line
Pin 10 - J1850 Bus
Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)
Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L Line
Pin 16 - Battery Power

I just finished putting two ten inch subs with an amp in the back of my P5. I am very happy with the sound now. I had just recently installed new stereo and speakers in the doors. I love how it rumbles and I didnt even put anthing good in it.

OK so what's the best way to clean the engine and bay?? A lot of cleaners say not to directly spray connectors and I'm sorry but I'm not comfy hosing down the motor? Is it safe to spray it down and then just do the gentle spray rinse

Congrats on biting the bullet. :)

For anyone who may buy these, if your phone requests a PIN, chances are its 6789. Mine was, and there was no documentation about it. I found it by digging deep in Google.

Yeah I've seen some engine cleaners......what's carman? Better than the torque apparently...my girl amber says hi yall

It's an app just like Torque but for Nokia devices running the Maemo operating system (specifically the n800 and n810). I really doubt it's better than Torque but I don't have an Android phone so Carman's all I got :)

this is basically it guys. and WOW i couldnt believe how many ppl are doing this on youtube!! sOO many videos

i thought i was the only 1 that figured it would be a good idea..

So after swapping the tires. (and doing an oil change in between) Ive come to the conclusion that its the drivers side wheel bearing. It was the side i was going to change right up to the last minuet.

s***.

Back to cleaning engine bay.....so other than wrapping up the air filter(Sri) is there anything else that it would be wise to cover up?
