What have you done to your P5 today?

Roof rails came in today and I was wondering if anyone know what size bolts and screws are requited to attach the rails to the car then the plastic pieces to the rails.

Crossbars or entire rack...do you have the rectangular shaped pieces for the front crossbars...if not I have an extra set...

Started re-wiring up the aftermarket mirrors agian, and chopped up ithe mazda emblem to the "M" that looks so much better.

got the turbo p5 running.... gonna pull out the emanage and sell it though... i think the p5 can just use a msp ecu... gas should be ok milage wise right?
( 626 mani with PNP, stock block, gt2860rs 3 in exhaust msp ecu stock injectors now

Glad to hear it's up and running WooT wooT.Same setup I will be running also beside's the 626 mani.Gotta order my JIC magic exhaust early next week.

well... it has been a battle.... 5th motor.. the last one i had for less then 500 miles LOL... this one i have decided to leave fairly stock... i did notice something while changing motors... the automatic proteges have a different bolt pattern for the transmission.. yes for the most part it is the same... but on the back side by the rear motor mount it is different.. one less bolt.,.. and the starter bracket was missing a hole... lol just something i noticed....

on a different note.... i gotta pull my ecu to get the codes gone... then im gonna install a new fan

How much boost were you running on ur last motor that blew?

Any one know the size differences with the p5 rotor, speed prote, and the mazda6. i heard the 6 was a direct swap and bigger rotors than the speed protege but requires you to run only 17" and above wheels... anyone with pics also would be great!

6 rotors are bigger than the msp...however you can still fit 16" wheels on the 6 brakes(i believe certain 6 models had 16" wheels stock). Anything bigger than msp brakes is over kill though unless your running some super sticky tires ie r-comps/tracking the car

Here's the thread on brakes. Bear in mind that unless you do all 4, your brake bias is going to be way off front to rear, and as of now no one has figured out how to hook up the ebrake cable to Mz6 calipers (apparently it's different somehow). Happy reading!

Hey whats going on you guys?!?!!! Newboie here with some questions for ya. What are some basic modifications i can do to my
p5? Also i was wondering if any of you had any transmission and radiator problems with your p5. Let me know.

define radiator and trans problems and are we talking auto or manual

basic bolt on's apply to the p5 depends on your goals and budget however the p5 as with all the proteges is a much more rewarding car to stick to suspension modifications

Waste of money....if you want better stopping power throw some good pads on there and make sure your rotors are in good shape. Then look at your tires...if they are cheap get better ones. The weakest link in most vehicles breaking systems today is the tires. Sure you can throw massive rotors (which greatly increase rotational mass: a whole different thread) and calipers but then when you hit the brakes they just lock up the wheels and you go sliding all over the place. Before you go throwing stuff on there read up about how automotive brakes actually work. You will save yourself a lot of frustration in the end.

However, if you have top of the line tires then the MSP upgrade is more than enough for the protege's the 6 kit is simply show and really is overkill unless you plan on tuning the brakes and tracking the car.

Possibly some of the last pics with my HID's. :(

Just wanted to post my HID pics, 6000k DDM slim ballast kit.

I think the stock headlights have a really decent cutoff

They are ok, but get 25 feet from a wall then post a pic, and I'll compare yours with mine.

I mean no disrespect, but to say the factory halogens even have a cutoff is crazy.

Compared to other halogen headlights, they do have cut off. Every car I see with hids never has anything close to a cut off but the protege headlights keep a decent cut off and don't have glare like a flash light.
