What have you done to your P5 today?

...so I'm seriously considering taking off all the turbo stuff and going back N/A.

:(

Pulled the bumper this morning to swap PS headlights. I bought a used one off of dubbydoo already painted black. Mine is sitting in the living room with a silica gel pack in it to help remove the condensation. Now I'm all set to go for state inspection this Friday and it will give me more time to work on mine to fix the problem for good.

I'll be doing the vc gasket soon....letting the engine cool off now. I had to run to Sears as the mechanics set I just bought had a defective 3/8 ratchet. The sockets would not 'lock' on...guy got a new ratchet from the case and I was on my way to Wegmans before coming home.

In tribute to Tylor, I decided to take advantage of having the bumper pulled and do a little rock crawling myself. :D

what's up with the head lights jeff?

oh, and i washed her at the touch less wash this AM...why i don't know, another storms coming tonight so by mon afternoon it will look just as bad..(notcool).oh well....(sad2)

you NA guys are such purists! ;)
I don't get it...

I know, I know! I'm seriously getting sick of this oil-burning issue though (and the CEL). Tomorrow I will hopefully be replacing the IAT sensor and performing another compression test. If I get numbers upwards of 195 psi across all four cylinders then I don't know what's causing the oil burning...

And you're sure the seals in the turbo are good?

Honestly, I have no idea. I had the turbo inspected about a year-and-a-half ago when I got it upgraded (by Nick at MPi) and he said while there was a little oil leaking but not a substantial amount. I guess the seals could have blown since then so who knows. Either way, I don't have $1000 to drop on a new turbo right now. Aside from that I still need to redo my oil lines (again) because they're leaking slightly, redo the oil pan seal (because apparently I did a crappy job the first time), fix/replace the IAT sensor and possible the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor and lastly I need to find a way to stop the small leak in my Corksport radiator's drain plug.

I can't reallyy afford to do a lot right now because I'm currently in the market for a new truck as well. Fortunately the P5 drives just fine - it just burns lots of oil, leaks and currently has a CEL on. I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon but there's just so much that needs to be done. I can't wait until I get married so I can have a little extra income :D

Wa-Wa Wadayasay?!?

That's not how I recall it happening, but then again, I didn't marry a suga-momma.

My fiance' makes just about the same amount I do. If we manage to live in roughly the same means we both are now we should be able to dedicate one of our paychecks to bills and the other for savings/spending.

So on another note, has anyone here ever removed the cruise control from the steering wheel? I ask because I finally removed the controls from the wheel and I had to remove an electrical connection and sever a ground that was connected to the unit. I put everything back together and now I don't have a horn. Does this electrical connection have to remain plugged in and the ground remain attached?

Well it was part of the loom that went to the CC unit so I figured it was for that - I guess I was wrong. So I suppose I'll have to sever the CC wires from the plug and leave the ground in place and then just splice it back together and see if that works.

VC gasket is done....took me a little over an hour.

Stoopid bolt on the right side in the back was a b**** to get at. I tried pulling the bundle of wire out of the metal tab hanging over the bolt and ended up bending the tab up....at least it gave me enough room to get the socket in there. lol

Anyone else have troubles with the bundle of wire on the PS? The damn clips wouldn't come out of the cover so I undid the zip ties and still had to unclip the two sensors in the back and one more zip tie in the back for the same bundle so I would have enough play to get the cover off.

Ah well...it's done and I let her warm up while I shoveled the driveway and then went around the block. Didn't notice any leaks, but I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days.

Meh....condensation in the PS light. Mid december I pulled it and dried it out..installed it a few hours later and presto...condensation again. I need to re-seal it.

Okay, horn is back (woo!). It turns out that the plug is actually the power source for the horn and the CC control module. When I cut the wire and removed the plug I cut all power the horn. Either way, a quick wire splice and everything is as good as new - the dinky little horn is back!

I also replaced my driver's side a-pillar which had several broken tabs preventing my pillar pod from staying up. Got another one from another member here and all appears good.

i just got my 195/40/17 tires today! and my awr rear endlinks 2 days ago. im going to try and mount tires and endlinks today. stretched/dumped ftw

Whatever makes you happy man, but I'm sure you already know by now, you won't get much support for this look here...

It's probably because you aren't really "out there" about it like some Vdub owners are. I'll agree with you on the low part though. The differene being I'm about getting the P5 as low as possible while keeping a 215 or wider tire on there. Slammed with 16" wheels with some big meat on them looks great IMO.

Slideshow, you know we have the same taste haha.

Mine is in progress till I get money from coilovers and rpf1's. Slam, strech, poke!

looks better with 15x10s and 275/35/15s :p
