lol I know right? Honestly, that's tame compared to when I fired up the miata w/ an open header. Now THAT was loud. No cat, no muffler, nothing. Though, it was blowing flames, so that was cool lol

i used to use carb cleaner to blow flames out of the carb. of my monte carlo. pretty bad idea now that i think about it

i picked up this muffler from a buddy today and im curious if anyone knows if it would sound raspy with 2.25 custom piping from an exhaust shop. Its a magnaflow with 2.5 in/2.5 out with a 4 inch tip. not crazy about having a four inch tip but i got it for less than 40 bucks.

Aside from rust on the hangar, its in really good shape,especially for the price i got it for. anyone running a custom cat back from an exhaust shop?

do it. Magnaflow is a really good company. You will be happy with it

and something to remember is that with exhausts, the bigger the muffler the deeper/quieter the sound is.

he probably removed the resonator. Keep a resinator in your exhaust lineup and it shouldn't be raspy

Also, just sourced a msp lip for ma car, so, both Pro5's will be sporting MSP lips next month

hmmm then it is possible that it may be raspy. If it is you can always add a resonator and that should take care of it

im assuming its cause of the header, because prior to making it a cat back he ran it just as an axleback,and it sounded fine. and he did have a resonator up until about a week aog

I would definitely look elsewhere and get something that is easier to install (bolt-on), is reversible, and is not rusted to s***.

Okay, well I think I may have found my vacuum leak. It appears my catch can doesn't like to hold vacuum. It's kind of odd that it just decides to do that now. Either way, I bypassed the system and let the car idle for about three minutes and everything seemed okay. Only time will tell whether the CEL goes away or not.

1) the rust is pretty minor,and its just on the hanger(i live in MA,so rust is to be expected) 2) It was free,i'd rather do a cat back so i can switch it back at some point for inspections and such, but that would require saving some cash(not that thats a bad thing) 3) thanks for the honesty, because im seriously on the fence about this muffler.
