What have you done to your P5 today?

CEL came back on yesterday, boo! I'm hoping it's actually for something different because it came on while I was driving this time and not when I was stopped and idling like the other two times. There wasn't any funny idle either so I'm hoping it was triggered by a cat code or something.
Boo, it was P0171. Idle was being funny today as well. I don't know if it's because of the slightly cooler air or what. I might try to richen things up a tad at idle with the AFC and see if that solves the problem. On another note I installed my gloss black powdercoated valve cover and some all new stainless steel hardware. Looks pretty good and will look better once I get my new FMIC setup in. Everything is either going to be polished aluminum or gloss black :D

Damn you... pics..

And Stand alone FTW....ScrewaCEL.
Pics once I get that damned oil cap on straight - I have like 30 deg more to get it but my hands are so torn up from working that thing I'm done for today.

+1 to standalone - I'm leaning more and more in that direction, I just don't have $1000 to spend on a Haltech plus I have no idea who around here can tune that (I certainly have no idea how to). Which one does timing, E6X?

I am sure my guys up here in dayton Can.
Even though I am going MT...I would love to go with the new Haltech..But @ $1700...its gonna have to wait

Just because you asked... (wink)

As for the blemish on the "a" in "mazda" I'm not really sure where that came from. I've sanded and sanded and sanded and it just won't go away. I almost think it's some kind of casting imperfection or something.

nice bro! i likes the black/red theme!! ;)
Wow, this thread still going.
(yes)
Finally got a chance to have some work on the wagon today. New tranny filter and fluid, still need to reflush to clear out the torque converter. Fresh oil change. New cone filter. tightened up the loose front endlink. hmmm,me thinks me needs an aftermarket adjustable set. cleaned the pcv, checked the plugs. Rotated the tires. washed the exterior. i'll prolly clean the interior tomorrow.(breakn)
good work B! i just finished mine too! car show tomorrow...you gotta come up again!(yes)

Got my Eibach springs put on this past Wednesday. Had wicked fender rub so I had to camber the rear. Got that done last night. No rub so far. Got out today and cleaned the exterior and the engine. Trying to decide what my next project will be. Painting the interior red is on the top of the list. I need new motor mounts (broken one) so I guess that will be next. Thinking about a new sway bar very soon. Going to replace my open ended lug nuts with closed-ended too.

Thanks to WRCProtege for the help on the springs!!

Found out why my motor's been shaking me to death going into first gear.

I installed AWR inserts on the side mounts and 2 days later, all 4 bolts that holdt he mount to the car have come loose.

Reactive header should be here Thursday, and all new gaskets early next week

As soon as I get the stock wires in I can have them ready for you!

Actually, everything is going to either polished aluminum or gloss black when I'm done. While red and black look good together I think that too much of it has was too much contrast. For instance, mostly red with some black (like my old setup) is ok but I don't think the other way around looks quite as good. Once I get some more things installed and more things come out I'll be switching over to black vacuum lines (do they make silver?) and I'll probably get few brackets and such powder coated gloss black. Come to think of it, I should have just bought a black car, LOL. Nah, I like classic red too much :D

installed new (used) j pipe from magnum and it fixed my problem, but i stripped 2 studs getting the old one out, bought new ones, wrong size, bought diff. ones, right size
but turns out that either im stripping on of the holes or idk whats going on
i said f*#% it and drove with only 2 studs in the j pipe, wow huge exhaust leak and major backfiring when slowing down, sounded like a dam cannon was going off underneath me hood

options: try to force it in some more, or buy a header
i dont want a header, because my exhaust is already to loud, and i need to pass inspection soon

dam, i hate mods lol

Tell me about it...

Can't live with 'em; can't live without 'em.

yea, its always the small things that never go right
took me about 30 minutes to put the j pipe that i got from you, on my car
but the studs stripping part made me have to continue to not drive it, im still not driving it, its been sitting on jack stands since yesterday lol
makes a horrible ratteling sound when i start it up, ill try to get a vid
idk if its because my motor mount inserts or because the j pipe is loose

Might be the heat shield(s). Check the exhaust manifold and j-pipe heat shields and make sure they're both tight. I know one time I left my heat shield a little loose and I would get this horrible rattling noise at a particular RPM. Scared the hell out of me before I realized what it was.

After the 12hr drive home and unpacking the MPV, I walked into the garage and started her up for the first time in a week. :)

Then I took her for a drive to pick-up chinese and pizza for dinner.(drive2)

Ok so today I changed out the outer tie rod on the passenger side since the old one looked like someone molested it.

Thought that was the source of my clunk just because of how bad the old one looked but I'm still getting the god forsaken clunk. It just won't end. Now I just can't wait till class is out so that I can tear into that front passenger area and figure it out.

So far I have eliminated the following:

Sway bar bushings: Checked more than a couple times, they seem perfectly fine.

Strut itself: Just switched to Tokico Blues.

Endlinks: seem fine but I have a new set of AWR's waiting anyway.

Tie rod: because I changed it today.

So what I'm thinking is that it IS the strut mount bushing or the strut mount itself. Once I have time to, I'm going to take the strut out and check it all out. Hopefully I won't have to cut the endlink off but who knows. I just want this damn clunk gone so that I can have piece of mind lol
