What have you done to your non-mazda today?

Good lookin wheels. I've hardly ever seen a car the RPF1s don't look good on :D

oohh you got them!! so how many trips to disney and how many coach bags did that take?? :p

<3

LOL! Like I told you via PM, I've leveraged a 3 day trip to Disney, but truth be told, I think I pushed Taylor to buy those wheels. They're hot! (peep)

I guess I should update this since I have inherited another non-Mazda.

A few of ya'll (Phen, Taylor, Jen) know my brother's 01 VW Jetta Wagon. Well, he's going to school / life in Italy this summer, and would get killed on the deal trying to sell it right now. We needed a car, he had a car to get rid of... sold! I knew it needed a little work though, as it had a CEL for a cat when he dropped it off.

So, we insured it, got the title done, and eventually found the time to drive it to Jim Ellis VW before work one day to get the working-over I knew I would (as a note: the county I live in does emissions testing, on 96 and newer, it's just an OBDII scan. If it's in Ready mode and no CEL, you pass. If you have a CEL, no pass).

Later on that day, I got the dreaded call from the dealership:
"Good news! It's just the cat."
"That's... good news?"
"It's still under VW's emissions warranty, so it's covered"
"So, I'll have to pay what then? Just the $75 diagnostics fee plus the $25 emissions test?"
"Nope, just the test."

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?! I got out of a VW dealership for a bad catalyst for $25?! SCORE!

Besides needing new tires, it's in pretty good shape. 71k miles, cosmetically ok, everything works, and he had installed projector HIDs, which are the bomb (as I found out when I had the S2k) :D

So yes, Jen's got a new ride :)

EDIT: No, no pics yet, but here is basically what it looks like (since it's all stock lol)

EDIT #2: Yes, it's a 5-spd, so I've been driving it to work. It's not really that sporty (or sporty at all), but it's a heck of a lot more fun than running around in the auto Pathfinder lol

I agree. Way better mileage than the Pathy, obv, and plenty of room. I've been pretty lucky with my last 2 cars: Picked up the Pathy as a tower a couple months before we found out Jen was pregnant, then Matthew not being able to get a quick sale on the Jetta. Sucks for him, works for us :)

is this why the Cerica is going to be taking up residence in our garage? ;)

<3

lol it's one reason, but not really the only one. I'm just sick of looking at it. I've got so much stuff to do with the house & miata before the kids get here that I don't have a spare minute for the Cerika unfortunately. Gonna be glad/sad to see it go.

well i am always working on my old vette,
