What have you done to your non-mazda today?

I think everyone needs a build thread! Let's flood the world with build threads!! lol

Just bought these for my Bavaria...

BBS FTW.

Haven't actually DONE anything yet, but since my autocross season is over here's what's happening to the non-mazdas:

VW Jetta
Need to remove the oil-pan and re-seal it. It's got a small leak b/w the pan and the block and I'm tired of it messing up my garage floor.

Pathfinder
Needs new front brakes fairly badly.
While I'm in there, since you have to disassemble the hubs to get the rotors off, I'll more than likely replace the wheel bearings as well.

Trailer
It's having electrical issues again. Fortunately the brakes still work fine (though they need to be adjusted, easy procedure, 5 min tops), but the lights are all borked up. It's had lighting issues ever since I've owned it but I had them temporarily worked out for most of last year and this, but the gremlins seem to be popping back up (Driver's side tail light is no longer "signaling" turn or brake, only the running light works), so I'll be tearing the harness down from the trailer connector all the way back to the lights and rebuilding it from scratch, and replacing the housings on the lights with new LED lights.

No doubt man. I liked the car when I saw it at Daytona. Plus it was a logical purchase.

It's not exactly a post of "What I did" but rather "what I want to do but need help understanding." Perhaps some of the gurus here can assist. Granted, it's a truck but the buttons technically work the same as does the technology.

So I found out very quickly that my LSD is one of those BS electrical pseudo ones that just uses the brakes. Apparently after the '08 year model they took out the mechanical. I'd like to replace this for a mechanical one but I do want to take the truck to the track (1/4 mile and AutoX) before that gets done. Here's where I need car knowledge at. I have a TCS button. I press it once, I get "AutoLSD" and "TCS" lights. I press and hold for 3 seconds, I just have "TCS" light on. It's my assumption that not having it pressed means traction control is on fully. However, I've been told that's what pressing it once does. So, if that's the case, what's the holding it down do? I'm pretty cornfused about this and anyone with Toyota Truck know-how would be greatly appreciated here.

Gracias. Depending on job future, perhaps you'll see RacerXRunner out and about at track days next season.

Have you tried doing something crazy like, I don't know, reading the manual? Korey may have an answer for you, but as for the rust of us, unless we own the same truck, there's really no way we could know what the buttons in your truck do.

you have alot more to worry about than a mechanical lsd....infact the autoLSD works pretty well. No lights on means the system is active, if the lights are on from pressing the button the system is deactivated....if the lights are on from not pressing the button than the system is either turned off because of a check engine light, system malfunction, or they are currently working.

like muff said check your owners manual the toyota manual is extremely informative on the operations of the vehicle, so much so i will reference it from time to time depending on the problem i am trying to solve.

...wow towing really burns through those brakes...i swear we didnt do those much more than 2 years ago, i remember packing the front bearings.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, even as "like new" as the truck is and as low miles were on it, the manual, was not there. I will do a little digging as I'm sure it's online somewhere.

Thanks for the advice you had.

I didn't necessarily expect you to know the buttons in my specific truck but it's the same system that's used in the Tundras and FJ Cruisers and I'm sure someone on here might've had some input.

It was just about 2 years ago. Towing and buying bad pads and rotors based on recommendations. Did my own homework this go-round, and hopefully got stuff that doesn't suck lol

The BMW front rotors are the same way. Stupidest idea ever.

My '09 Tacoma has the same settings and unfortunately the manual isn't too clear explaining this. It's my understanding that just pressing the button disables the traction control system (TCS or TRAC), which applies the brakes when it detects wheelspin. Holding the button in for 3-5 seconds disables both the traction control system and the vehicle stability system (VSC). The VSC is the "auto-LSD" and only comes on if it detects lateral sliding. So TCS=prevent wheelspin, VSC=prevent sliding. I always disable both of them at the same time when driving in the snow but I wouldn't know which setting is the most appropriate for drag/autox. Remember, it is a truck ;)

Nothing to old blue today but yesterday and later on today after work I plan on finnishing the recovering the seats. So far it looks pretty good if I do say so myself.
