What have you done to your MSP today?

Got my box full of bolts and diff oil seals. So last night between work and hockey I installed the oil seals and got the transmission back on the car, bolts finger tight and supported by a jack. One of the starter bolts snapped when I was taking it off, but for now I'm saying screw it, it can handle only two bolts. I'll probably regret that later, but right now I don't care that much.

I do have a question though. Does anyone know if there is a U shaped 6 inch vacuum line on the underside of the intake manifold? While I was messing with the starter a vacuum line just dropped on my chest. It's got a bunch of grime on it, so it's been under the car for a while, but I might have just dropped it way back when I was doing the lines for my boost gauge. Any thoughts? Does anyone have a vacuum diagram?

I've always seen people post on here that it was unwise to move it as you may cause damage to other transaxle parts in the process.

oh trust me I only limped it home liek 2/3 blocks and its been sittign since... I have another car I can drive so its not like I have to drive it around. And once your moving it sounds perfectly normal but has a werid pulse in power.. If I give it gas to accellerate the rpms climb but the car doesnt go any faster.. in fact slows down. lol Thats why I think its the clutch but tell I can get a mech buddy to look at it.. The car is goign to sit in my driveway.

for those who have a black msp, definitely try the black box by turtle wax. It goes on easy and comes off easy as well. Made my car look great. Not saying it looks much better than when using other waxes and it takes awhile to do the entire process right but, its definitely nice. I got mine for free but I'm definitely going to buy a set in the future since all 3 of our cars are black. I may even do my miata tomorrow.

On another note, i may check the trans fluid level a little later. I recently changed my trans fluid and its been a little tougher to get into reverse. I want to make sure that none of the fluid is leaking. I did put 3 Qts in so, it should still be full. I have a spare Qt just in case.

Hope it all works out for you. I wasn't implying that yours is broken just posting what I've seen people say over the years. SerCyclops posted recently about a strange noise while underway and it turns out his LSD was toast. So maybe the whole no movement thing is bunk. I don't know but hope I don't have to find out any time soon.

It's Alive!!!!!!!!! Again!. Just if i can figure out this squeky power steering belt, and the boost gauge isn't reading, but that's a minor issue right now

Yours definitely sounds like a clutch. When the diff is broke, I don't think you can move.

I thougth if the LSD went the car wouldn't move at all...

you won't be able to move much, but in some cases you can still move...very slowly. When mine snapped a few years back, I was able to limp the car to a parking lot in first gear with my foot barely on the gas. Anthing above like 2300 rpm and it would make the awful squealing sound and the car would stop moving.

How did you determine it was teh diff adn not the clutch?

Well I ordered some new plugs for it from ebay. NGK ZFR7F 12 dollars shipped. Yay! My idle was getting rough and I honestly can't even remember how old my plugs are, at least 2 years old by my count, maybe a little older. I thought seafoam would have fixed that rough idling but, I was wrong. Might be the egr but I really don't feel like cleaning it.

at the time, I was still fairly new to the car but I took it to a trans. shop and they pulled the transmission and took it apart after they realized that the clutch still looked fairly new. That's when they found the diff pretty much grenaded itself

Today I was accelerating to 60 on the highway and shifted to 5th going 45, and then had very little power. It just didn't want to climb to 55. Then after about 3 seconds it suddenly came back. A sign of a turbo problem? I don't think my brakes were dragging.

Yeah because you should be in second, lol. 45 in 5th is bogging the s*** out of it. You probably freaked the ecu out.

Battery light went on Thursday morning, changed alternator today. Battery light off now :D
