What have you done to your MSP today?

meh. im gonna get hated but i think those cf fender covers look gawdawful.

id much rather see some fiberglass replacement fenders, made wider. maybe if i ever get around to that bpt awd 3rd gen project ill demonstrate ;)

there's a map for 440's in the afc thread, give it a try. cant hurt

well.. good news tonight i guess...from ghost ones car-2731

i got everything put back together. i started the car.. it started! and ran.. bad though.

at first the idle was holding/pushing up from 2k to about 3500.. then when i readjusted some things and tried again, it was very quickly, going from 2000-2500/3000 rpms up down up down up down. i'm not sure why this is..

things considered as possible issues:
-not having a 440/28rs/fmic/walbro map installed(so running on the superstock map
-possible vac leak, although i didn't really hear anything
-IAC valve dead

any thoughts??

Since you asked for "any thoughts" and not just intelligent thoughts, here's mine. I would disconnect the SSAFC to eliminate the issue of whether proper maps are the problem. If it idles just fine without the SSAFC then you know that its the problem. If it doesn't idle any better then you know you have some more basic problem to resolve before you start worrying about tuning.

stock tune with 440s would be even worse. even MORE fuel.

I would get a proper map in, if you're metering fuel for 285, and running 440s, theres a LOT of extra fuel there. if theres a vac leak too, then that would be extra fuel and air... which sounds like what you have.

Idk why you would even try to get it to idle running a map not designed for the amount of fuel you're delivering.
it was merely a matter of starting the vehicle to see if it'd run etc. i didn't have my laptop with me at the time to reload a new map.

was my next task.there are 2 that i'm looking at. one specifically said 440s w/ walbro, the other is solos 440 map.

I thought the purpose of the stock metering parts was to properly meter air and gas. If the ecu sees the mix as rich wouldn't it just send less gas regardless of injector size? Besides, mine idles in the high 14s to low 15s. Seems like a little richer wouldn't hurt.

I don't think the stock ECU can correct for 1.6x the amount of expected fuel. I'd guess it'd just throw a code and throw in the towel, but I've never done it, so idk for sure.

Me neither... but asking these questions and studying the responses has gotten me a lot more edjumacated than I was when I joined the forum a year and a half ago. I've progressed all the way from ignorant to stooopid!:)

damian, until you get it all going right.. take out the 440s.. put in the stockers.. and take out the split second.. once you get it smooth with stock ecu/injectors.. then do the upgrade and tune it..

Kicker was running a 28rs and posted a map in the AFC thread. I would assume he had 440's since he was running well over 10 psi on it.

I was going to say, with the 440ccs they are going to run like crap no matter what unless you get it tuned, and if you have problems other than just the injectors and stuff, then you'll never get it fixed and there could be some big problems from that.. but ya the 440cc on stock ecu I know will eventually throw a code, it tries to deal with it as best as it can.. but then gives up, unless you want to constantly play with the throttle to keep it going.. but that's a PITA and not what you should be doing anyways.. but ya ..

Ordering a Haltec Standalone.

I was gonna buy new injector's anyway 280's or 440's but which one's should I get?

It's a standalone so I think it can be tuned for any injector but I'm not going past 12psi really, with the HKS wga on a stock motor.

So should I buy new stock size injector's or get the 440's?

And I just put in a new fpr and about to put in walbro pump.

Taking my car to a technician later today to see what all I can get accomplished before the Carlisle show on Saturday.

so pulling into my work parking lot, my buddy said one of my hids out. i had already cut the car and lights off. when i turned them back on, both were out. any ideas?
