What have you done to your MSP today?

No, I have not. I have only put 40k miles on the car. so now it has 60k.

EDIT: yeah dexcool sucks it causes your car to get all this crud in the water jackets or what ever they are called and it can ruin a good radiator, seen that happen with my buddies S10, we took a water hose and ran this brown gunk from the dexcool out forever. it was crazy how bad it was.

damn, my car started overheating too. It started last night. The temp gauge would start rising then if I pull over and turn the car off, I could see steam or smoke whatever it is, start coming from under the hood. It's not a lot though. Then when I pop the hood, I can hear the coolant sizzling or boiling near the radiator. I am going to try to get a better radiator cap and a new thermostat but I can't wait 2-3 days for another cap to come in the mail since this is my daily driver.

your radiator might be done for, check it for cracks and leaks etc.. mine would over heat and it was my radiator. had everything happening that you said above.

as for me im going to install my boost gauge today, still waiting on my wideband to come.

if your coolant level is ok and you don't have leaks then it's probably your thermostat. you can get a thermostat and/or a new cap(if you think yours is bad) at your local auto parts store for about $10 each...

A bit off topic but anyone know the difference from a jdm low temp thermostat and the oem msp low temp. I am still running p5 oem replacement and searched with no luck.

pretty sure the stock MSP thermostat is 190 degree. don't know about the JDM version but i would guess it's the same...

I thought JDM was 170... but thats just me trying to recall something I read long ago... might say on protegegarage site? (I'd look but I'm at work)

Lol, what kind of coolant does your alls car have in them just standard green? for some reason my car has dex cool in it? WTF, I just noticed this and I have had my car for like ever. :D

I use distilled water and a bottle of water wetter in my car

So I got my SS AFC working properly tonight on the Superstockmap. The car has never driven so well. Though I was thinking, now that the car actually has a decent amount of pep to it, I think it is time for a small brake upgrade. The stock brakes are working just fine, but just to be safe I'm thinking some upgraded pads would do well. Just upgrading pads would be okay right? I don't think cross drilled rotors and such are all that necessary for my power range. Doesn't have to be anything outrageously expensive like I imagine Brembo's are, but does anybody recommend a certain kind?

So replaced the termostat tonight. Ugh, working on ur car in the rain is not fun. I was a little worried because the termostat i got from kragen was half the size of the one that came out. So i took it for a drive and it looks like everything is fine. Car is running better for some reason. I didnt slap the CS rad in because i need another spal fan. I also use the green stuff coolant. Sucks driving my dads hybrid around. It has no power and so uncomfortable. But i got my baby back. Woo!!

Dude that Civic is damn good on gas tho. The seats are uncomfortable as **** tho. My back is still feeling it right now. But i think chicks dig hybrids. No lie. haha.

I would take the Civic Hybrid over the Insight. Those things are such pieces of s***.

everything seems fine now, I took off the radiator cap and started the car and let it run til it warmed up. Every couple of minutes, I would see the coolant bubble out. I let it run until it completely stopped, then I put the radiator cap back on and drove it around and it didn't overheat. Just to make sure, I let the car cool down and drove it later on and I drove it a little hard and it hasn't overheated yet. So, I guess it was just an air pocket in the system.

^^I would suggest u change out the termostat. Its really cheap and u might aswell change it now or have overheating issues in the near future. Took me about the an hour to do it. I was taking my sweet time.
