I agree with everything but it effecting the mani cracking or not... could you give some reasoning on that?

If you've seen the exhaust manifold gasket, it is not a standard gasket... it is like a series of metal wafers plied together. If the head or the mani have warped a little bit, the gasket gives where it needs to so the stress is evenly distributed across the mani. The gasket gives ground so the mani doesn't have to.
