What have you done to your MSP today?

I still had the stocker before I bought my Quaife and it was ok. When Manny took it out though, it did have some wear and tear on it though and one small crack that probably would've turned into something MUCH bigger sooner or later. So I'm glad that I got it replaced when I did.

SU is 596 shipped after u add the 2 axle seals and 2 main shaft bearings

PG is 619 shipped and includes all bearings and locking nuts

they're about the same price. so with SU i'd need locking nuts and with PG i'd need axle seals? lol

now how reliable would it be to get my current one welded vs just getting a new one that comes welded? obviously theres a big price difference but i'd rather just do it right the first time so i dont have to end up doing it again

if you've got the origional in tact, and have ANY excuse to rip into the motor or trans, by all means get it welded up. as long as its done right, should be nearly as good as a new welded diff..

I just bought the diff from SU, and the shop bought all the bearings and such... it was quite a list..

cool. can u help me out with that list? dont wanna be missing parts if im gonna really do this so i can minimize downtime. thanks :)

how many miles was this at? and what are your driving habits? lol

It was never welded properly from the beginning.

I drive like an old lady. lol But it's only got $59k miles on it. But I do have more hp and tq than factory. So I dunno. The trannys are a piece of crap in our car and I'd say about 50% of the MSP owners have broken their LSD's at different intervals - no matter how people drive it. They just didn't make them as strong as they should've been.

The car was made way before it was turbocharged so you have to take that into account. I think it has held up pretty well to the abuse that we put it up to. I made over 200hp and over 200ft/lb of torque. I have been driving it at abover that point since about 40k miles ago. The diff went on mine with the stock turbo on it, after that I haven't had to many issues.

Yeah, I have to kind of give it to mine. I have 280+ to the wheels and it held up for a while. It was JUST showing signs of wear. But I'm glad I got to it when I did.

yea, it's has nothing to do with modifying and racing a car that was never meant for such conditions. It's totally the msp's fault.

I do know they break not modified but how many you think break from defects? If the truth was always told I bet it would be a very low number.

I feel bad when they break but you have to accept responibility

never said I don't blame myself for my car breaking, but there is PLENTY of evidence here on this forum that these cars do break without being beaten on

not to mention the very much extensive list of people who have had their lsd snap on them

X2 (iagree)

I bet if you drove the car stock and didnt beat on it much at all the only problems people would have with the car is the LSD and maybe some mounts going bad. Oh and the WGA.

this may seem like a dumb question, but are we talkin about killing it while really throwing down, or just trying to drive to work in traffic <_<. mine has 85k/km on it. not getting a lot of confidence from this thread =O!

got a preliminary estimate from the body shop today...about 2000 worth of damage from what we can see. can't even open the hood yet so who knows how much more there is...

if you don't mine my asking, whats your deductable? assuming its under 2K (99% are) it doesn't really matter... long as it all gets put back together right..

but the LSD alone is enough reason to deem the car unreliable

an unexpected expense of 2 grand on a car (which I do note is 15% of the value of the car when I bought it) is enough to be wary about it

don't get me wrong, I love msps and will always love them....but you are in denial if you think it is a reliable mode of transportation

not to mention the wastegate problem usually goes without notice to the average person....that alone can cause the motor to overboost and blow

the msp is really a -drivers- car, someone who can spot an issue before it becomes a problem....but as a daily driver for the average person it is not reliable

I think the fact that it is my daily driver makes it easier to spot problems before they become big ones but I do agree it isnt for the average person to just drive
