What have you done to your MSP today?

if its anything at all like all the rest of the bolts of a similar size in the engine then it would be a 10mm x 1.5 pitch

bring one of the bolts to a hardware store and compare them together...or get a metric tap and die kit that comes with a range of taps and dies

if I were at home I'd go check it for you since the engines not in the car lol, but alas I'm at school...

Topher,
DO that I have already replaced all my exhuast mani to head bolts with bolts no studs.... However I think I will get studs when or if I change out the exhuast mani later on. I've also replaced 2 out of 3 nuts for the rear motor mount that I almost rounded off while trying to break the factory lock tight s*** that they put on with a 6 point socket!! I've also replaced the strut bar nuts(I'm still not sure how the previous owner ****** those up).

Also while your their look at getting some lock washers. Some people will sayits over kill but eh why not other then its 20 cents more per washer?

hmm... so its 1 to 1 on get the studs or dont... lol A friend that has a MSP has all studs and highly recomends it due to not having to algiht crap.

I love having my ARP studs on the exhaust mani to head. I had my mani off way too many times and having all studs made it so mush easier and I have not had a single problem with them. They get my + vote if you're counting.

i couldnt. neither could jon (magnum p5) after using the provided washers i wasnt ok with only having two threads holding the nut on.

You talking about the washers? I used them with out any problem.

Yeah, the head flange on the MAM manifold is roughly 3/8". I tried using the lock washers first but I wasn't comfortable with the amount of contact threads. Even without the washers the tip of the stud only sticks out maybe 1/16" from the nut. Maybe the Steedspeed manifold just has a thinner flange than the the stock manifold and the MAM?

yep thats exactly how it is on my stock mani

tonight i 1/2 way installed the tranny mount insert...yeah, i think i stripped out the the two 'vertical' bolts...got into a rush. overall, that was the easiest of the 3 i've done so far....minus the minor ef-up.

anyone know what size bolts they are? M12, M14? i was planning on picking up a tap and dye to clean out the threads.

Also remember that the threads on the frame are usually just a threaded nut welded to the underside of the hole. so dont force anything or it may come loose. then its REALLY hard to fix.

PCV valve and timing belt being replaced, installing winter tires, changin oil......this is going to hurt......

Went to the junkyard to get all the parts for my own DIY PNP harness and 3 junkyards didnt have a protege!! Well one had a 323 from germany and man those are a lot different then one would think! Heated cloth seats outsideinside temp gauge and the ECU and dash harness is completely different! Ours has one plug to the ECU and theirs has 3 small plugs to the ECU.

I began to rotate my tires and repaint my Calipers black instead of the red that was on it when I got it and only finished one caliper and my paintbrush broke. Finishing tomorrow if I have enough time along with taking my gauge cluster out and fixing one of the rings.

I had to get my harness off a member. I couldnt find one either. I got the ECU side off ebay though. good deal.

FWIW, I've never seen a 3rd Gen Protege at a junkyard either :(
