What have you done to your MSP today?

Just upgraded LSD (Quaife) and clutch. Haven't replaced my 3rd and 4th gears yet. That's next on my list. I was thinking of cryo treatment - but without a second car now - anything additional with down time is going to hurt. I'm thinking of buying another car at the end of the year when they have really good sales on used ones. I'm just not sure what I'll get other than a run of the mill beater that gets 30 mpg's.

Hey Laura, I just cryoed my gears when I rebuilt my trans last month. The shop I used is very affordable if you can't find anything local. I paid $15 a gear and $28 a shaft. He'll do the entire trans for $348. Everything has to be disassembled though. I did all my own work so that saved me the most.

Damn, can i send you a trans to do it for me? :)

Yeah - no kidding. lol

I was thinking of just doing the same thing - but if I did the whole tranny-WOW. But that's some great food for thought if I want to send it out though. I'm sure they've got a local shop I can give them to - but I'll have to check around.

Thanks!

If you wanted to send me your trans for dismantle and taking the parts over for cryo and I'll put it together we could work something out. If you want the whole trans done then I think I'll opt out of it though. I can handle your gear sets and shafts but there are some other small things in the trans I don't really want to be responsible for. For the power most of us are making, just the gears should be suffice. Keep in mind you'd also need to pick up new shaft bearings and lock nuts for the re-assembly. I recommend onlinemazdaparts for those and have all the part numbers you'd need. also in order to cryo the diff correctly then it'd have to be dismantled as well, something I wouldn't venture into since they are rivoted together. I am happy with my welded version 2. If you haven't welded yours then I could have that done at the smae time since it is out of the tranny. I replaced my syncros as well.

i washed my car today... i try and get that done a few times a month to keep the salt and snow off of it. Some times i take it to the drive through, some times i give it a quick rince in my garage!

looks clean for all of 2 minutes when i take it for a drive!

I'm hoping to get the car washed one of these days now that the weather is a little nicer here. I could never wash it like people do up north. It would just have to stay dirty all winter! Aint no way I'm warshing it 20 degree weather!

Why not? Don't enjoy having your doors frozen shut?

It was about 60 here yesterday, and 45 when I was on my way to work... frecking heat wave!!! LOL

shes got a quaife so I don't think she would need to get that cryo treated lol

Damn thing cost a fortune too! But totally worth it. Now if I could get the gears done - the car will almost be mechanically complete.

Til next year or tax time comes again that is. lol :D
