What have you done to your MSP today?

Just found out all four cylinders have low compression. Can't build the motor right now, so considering selling it as is to someone who can..

Maybe a NA miata will help ease the pain..

How about an 06 mx5? Classic red, black interior and top.

yeah that sounds like a good plan i say go for it

Awesome, man. I wanted that setup, but having just bought the RX8, there's no more "Mod the MSP" money...

I hear you man, at least you are still in the Mazda family
OAN: thinking I may tune for methanol or maybe upgrade my pump and lines for e85?

you'll need much bigger injectors for e85 I believe. e85 doesn't really seem worth it to me sense there are no longer government subsidiaries it's only 10-20 cents cheaper than 87 with worse mpg's. At least that's how it is in my wife's Escape

Thought vetoed sir lol

merry Christmas everyone. Anyone getting or got any msp parts for Christmas?

I got some money to go towards the fixing of mine.

I got a torque wrench, impact, and imact sockets :)

Merry Christmas everyone!

There is some REALLY bad information out on the internet.

Methanol, or Ethanol? methanol is about $6-15 a gallon, and is part of the fuel blend used in Top Fuel dragsters (kinda hard to come by). Ethanol is more like $3 a gallon, and is what is found in E85 fuel pumps nation wide.

From a price standpoint, right now, no, not worth it. I metered out my FlexFuel capable vehicle, and lost 26% of my fuel economy by switching to E85. That means it needs to be 26% cheaper to break even. BUT, on an engine that is known for throwing rods when it knocks, it may be worth it to have both the added cooling effects, the higher horsepower numbers, and increased octane. Also, measuring against 87 octane in a car that is tuned for 92.. not exactly a good comparison.

Yup, new lines, new fuel pump and larger injectors. Probably 800cc or 1000cc

It is COMPLETELY unnecessary to change fuel lines to run E85, unless your current lines are not capable of flowing enough fuel, and unless you're running 500+horsepower, they are. Remember, for about 95% of the population of the country, you're already running E10 in your car. Ethanol does not have the same corrosive properties that Methanol has.

oh ok, well it was just a thought...lol

Do some more research. As long as you have ready access to E85 in your regular driving areas, it may well be worth it for you.

No one said he'd have to change lines for meth injection. Said he'd have to change for e85.

Which is my point. That is both very stupid, and very wrong. The ONLY reason you'd need to change fuel lines is if you're using Meth as a fuel. Now are you caught up?
