What have you done to your MSP today?

By resurface, I assume you guys mean put it on a mill and plane it off to the same level so it pulls up perfectly flush?

Also what would cause it to warp?

when awr welds they dont do spot welding very well and the heat from the welder causes the surface to warp.

+1 what he said. They are pretty good oil pans other then this known and common issue with them. I don't think they QA the surface to make sure its flat and free of warpage.

Went driving on the r-comps yesterday ( (sssh) ) to clean them up for the upcoming weekends autocross... (eek) Epic.

Car tired to eat a curb this morning and lost.

yeah me too. I spoke with a few guys including 505 about the casting mark issue and nobody has had issues with it with this batch. and so far, I am the only one having issues out of everyone who got a manifold from the 2nd group buy. Also looking at the flange, it doesn't appear to hit anything at all. So, Im ruling the manifold install out of my issue.

You don't find it strange that it runs w/o the maf plugged in?

Woke up at 2:00am yesterday, couldn't go back to sleep, left Knoxville at 4:15, drove 100 miles, and realized I didn't have the stamina to drive another 800, so I turned around and came back home... Then today I see thePope has an open diff transmission for $150 and he's only 250 miles away...

yeah I do. It does the same thing with both MAFs I have, unless both of them are bad. But, the other one I have was tested before I got it. The only other thing is, I have read up on MAF issues and a lot of them say that unplugging the MAF makes the car either run off of other sensors, the ECU makes the car run off of the last known readings from the sensors or makes the car run in a limp mode. I don't know if that is true with our cars. I guess I can try another MAF just for the hell of it, but Im running out of options.

Its NOT strange.. the car will idle and rev up with the MAF unplugged... its normal. Now if you could drive down the road then that would be strange.

the reason I say it was strange is troubleshooting my car in the past, I would unplug the MAF and the car would idle like I took the line off the brake booster. Now, it revs up like you said. But, Im going to get a scan tool and check for existing codes and try to get some live data. Next is a multimeter.

Over the weekend I installed some LED dome and reverse lights I had laying around, hard wired my GPS charger and installed a new to me boost gauge since my 8 year old one finally took a pewp.

That was.my way of saying I think its MAF related since it runs in limp mode without the MAF but not with it
