What have you done to your MSP today?

Just installed my new AC compressor. I've got my daughter this weekend and it's supposed to be in the mid-80s with high humidity.

I think the piston can withstand much more power than you people are THINKING. So, I'm going to do it. I'll be the test mule. You can either LAUGH at me when it goes completely FUBAR.

cool, u could save some ppl some $ in the future on their builds

My thoughts exactly. Not saying it doesn't happen, but the majority of failures I've ever seen whether it be an MSP or otherwise is normally the rod failing, not the piston.

it's a really easy answer.

if you're going to go with stock.. it'll blow..how do I know? Because it will

it's common knowledge, what fails is the weakest link. if not rods/bearings..what's next?

While its true the oem pistons can probably handle more than the oem rods its hard to tell what would be a safe level since no one really tried that before. On the other hand if you need some stock pistons to test I can sell you some dirt cheap :p they come with toothpick rods as an added bonus..

^LOL- "toothpick rods". Piston shattered for what reason? And more importantly ho many psi are we talking?

Which is why I have AWR deep sump + J&S + Stand Alone.

Oh, and I've decided to keep the car. Bought some ATE rear rotors, and Hawk Pads for the rear of her last night. Gonna order the diff, and pass/trans mounts today.

Well, I found you a buyer last night actually... His friend drives a titanium and he's been looking for one. But nevermind.

I'd say that's about accurate. I'm thinking any piston failure probably coincides with rod and/or rod bearing failure, and not the failure of the piston itself.
Ding, ding, ding!

the rod broke as well. i had bad oil problems and one of my plugs kept fouling, so that's what i blame for the motor blowing in the end.

So, the refrigerant level was low when I evacuated it last night to install the AC compressor by a full pound (system is only 1lb. 5oz. system), of course it didn't work this AM which I expected. The discharge line that's less that 2 years old is leaking, so I call up Advance and they've stopped carrying Factory Air and have replaced that line with their own brand which they don't have for my car. NOT MY PROBLEM.
