What have you done to your MSP today?

Anybody care to help...

I got my new 2nd o2 sensor and I replaced the 1st o2 sensor not too long ago. Cleared the code but it comes back on. CEL code is bank 1 too rich. WTF!
How is it too rich with new o2 sensors and stock ecu. And I even put on the hiboost downpipe with the stock cat and no exhaust at all after the cat just the sensor. It shouldnt still be throwing a code.

And it seems like it wants to run right I was getting on it earlier but it just feels a little held back, *too much fuel obviously. And with the code cleared it seemed to run worse than with the code on, only speaking of a full throttle comparison.

I already had it checked out for a leak at Mazda before by a mechanic that I'm friends with too and they couldnt find any leaks so don't think thats the problem. Somebody thinks I should get a FPR but I don't know if I want to do that, the CEL won't go away why is it on!

and when I had the bad 2nd 02 sensor, it wouldnt let me run through the gears w/o backfiring alot causing me to let off and then gwet back on it.

Not that I kept going like that I would let off and just go back to cruising.

Now that I got the new sensor and fixed the melted o2 wires it lets me run through the gears normally. So the new o2 fixed that problem.

I'm no expert by any means, but might it be an injector issue? Maybe it's stuck open or something and running too high of a cycle...

Now I don't own an MSP but what I have is close enough :). Anyhow, this doesn't sound like an O2 sensor issue to me. For starters, the 2nd O2 sensor has nothing to do with how the car runs; it's strictly for emissions checking. I've had my 2nd O2 sensor go completely dead (P0440, I think) and even with the CEL the car ran just fine. Now the 1st, or primary O2 sensor will definitely affect things and you will notice a difference if it's bad. The "Bank 1 too rich" code just means the primary O2 sensor is sensing too much fuel in the exhaust; it's not necessarily telling you the sensor is bad. What I think could be the problem here is the MAF. The only time I've had hesitation/running issues it's been due to the MAF. Ryan (2.0t03speed) ran into a similar problem you're describing not too long ago (bogging down and running too rich) and we found that the filament in his MAF was pretty much gone. With all that being said, just give the MAF a check and then go from there.

lol and you cant call mine bogging down, mine was called give it anythign over 1/8th throttle and your car almost cuts off lol

yea but if it was his maf he would thrown a voltage code like me and you have.
I threw a MAF code for too high voltage because the filament got wet. I didn't know your's threw a MAF code at all.

I thought your's was backfiring and whatnot from too much fuel and not cutting out. Yeah, mine fuel cut so hard one time the car shut off, LOL!

Just had the MAF replaced at the time the 1st o2 was replaced. Someone stole my intake and MAF, so I got a brand new intake and MAF.

Thanks but keep the ideas coming.

my snow tires rub alot. this is the first time ive driven on them since i lowered the car. sooo today for my msp i let it sit while i drove my gf's sweet co-rolla.

Installed my Perrin fmic, hks ssqv, & injen intake w/ the AEM dryflow :)

..I'll make a thread and post pics tomorrow. t'was a fairly easy install.
