What have you done to your MSP today?

Well... yet another problem. On my way back home from picking up dinner, I got on it a little bit in 4th and got this crazy muffled backfire sounding noise multiple times in a row so I immediately let off the gas. Tried boosting in 2nd down the road and as soon as I hit about 2-3 psi the same thing happened. It doesn't jerk the car like fuel cut but it completely bogs down and I feel like I'm going to blow the turbo. I checked for oil when I got home and did not see any.

Now for those that didn't read my post yesterday, I replaced the coilpacks and spark plug wires. Though I realized tonight that I neglected to switch out the plugs as well. I do have an extra set lying around. Does this sound like it could be a spark plug issue?

to me it does, what you described sounded like my ongoing battle with my p5 that took forever to beat

if you haven't yet, check all the wiring you can. i had a ground wire for my boost gauge come loose and felt like a complete loss of power, couldn't boost, got jerky sometimes, or just lost power but the engine never died.

I plan on pulling it in the garage to inspect everything this weekend. Though I should probably check the plugs before then.

me and simon(justanothermp5) welded in another o2 bung into my exhaust yesterday for the wideband, so now i have a o2 sensor is actually in my exhaust with a nonfouler. no check engine light for the first time in 6 months! well another check engine light popped on. dont know the code yet. will know tomorrow

i did after a year or so.. had the simulator on for 3 years now and still good.. guess it all depends on how much your runnin.. but from my personal experience even with the non fouler your 02 goes out

My 2nd o2 has at minimum 38K on it, could have 106 for all I know. at LEAST 16K of that has been with a non-fouler on it, and at least 7 months of that was without one ECU reset, and I haven't had a single problem with it thus far.

but u also jist recently upped your boost from stock... i run 13psi ona disco potatoe. thats y i said how you run ur car makes a difference

I guess I don't see how boost level would effect that, since regardless the target AFRs (and subsiquent O2 readings) would be changed at all.

the non fouler trick is not only for afr readings its also to keep your o2 from burning out since your egt's will be higher then normal.. which is what i mean.. and a burnt out o2=cel regardless of afr's there are other reasons your o2 goes out..

as long as your AFR remains safe, your EGTs shouldn't change drastically, catted or not. If anything removing the cats would cause the 02 to see a lower EGT, seeing as the cats themselves operate at roughly 1400*.

well then idk what the case was with mine but my o2 had may 60k on it and when i pulled it out it was literally burnt to peices.. then i burned out another bout a year later.. now that i went wit a o2 simulator i have no problems at all.. aslong as that annoying lil light isn't on i'm good lol
