I think it was more of a find one kinda cheap uncracked one to get you through till you can get a steedspeed
It would be what happens when you have senseless arguments having nothing to do with the topic, and no, not directed toward you in any way.
I've got 105K on my car, and other than a couple superficial cracks, my mani is fine, no function problems with it. But yes, other than a couple leaky welds the steedspeeds have no reported problems at all to my knowledge. if you're holding onto the car for a while, they're a must-have.
I've driven the MSP through a couple blizzards, its really a pretty good car in snow. Not that I would recommend doing it, if I had an option I'd have a winter beater.
Learn to do the work yourself, its MUCH cheaper, and more rewarding.
ha. if your a girlie its not hard to bribe a couple dudes to work on your car for booze. especially a fun rare car like this.
ill also mention that if you don't have the $700 bones for a steedspeed, Lots of people are running the thunder mani and they are quite strong. Think they have a good warranty on them too. $400 is a easier pill to swallow.
though i personally would get the steedspeed. there is just no way that thing will crack. pretty much a chunk of solid steel.
you must have a pretty wicked crack though. mine is cracked like 2inches between cyl 2 and 3. missing two studs/bolts and no smoke for me.
I'd be more likely to think that the smoke is actually coming from the oil return line under the turbo. That o-ring is probably done and some oil is running down and hitting the hot s-pipe and burning off. Or possbily some oil might have missed the filler on the valve cover and run down to the maifold and burned off there or maybe the valve cover gasket is due. I haven't really seen too much smoke actually from cracks in the mani. I have seen smoke from the o-ring at oil return and I saw smoke also when my oil return got baked and started desintigrating when my CS S-pipe sheared in half.
