I'm missing a bolt AGAIN... ARP studs are getting ordered Monday

im missing both left side bolts. one looks like it broke off and is flush with the manifold, other one looks like its missing entirely. ill measure the depth of the hole to make sure thats the case and it didn't break off somewhere in there and fall out.

looking at buying a set of arp exhaust studs but dunno if its worthwhile as i need a new manifold too due to the crack.. i have a manifold gasket already so thats cool.

not looking forward to removing it though since all the turbo lines are hard lines hah.

sucks though. down the road i had wanted to switch out to a t3 setup and was gonna get the t3 steedspeed. dont really wanna get the t25 version and have to try to sell it later =\

I had the upper left corner loose and the one under it broken. Tried tightening the upper left one and broke that one with almost no effort at all. Had a shop replace them all. Don't know what brand though. Probably some generic ones from the local auto parts store.

But what did I do to it today...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!! Drove the wife's slobalt today to see Inception

So, what I (and possibly a lot of other members) want to know is what did it "feel" like to have loose or missing bolts? What changed in the way the cars ran? What were the symptoms?

Well you can tell its slightly down on power, but not significantly. My biggest clue is when you start it up, you get this real high whistle sound which eventually goes away once it heats up. Essentially some exhaust gasses are slipping past the manifold flange until it and the gasket heats up and semi-seals it off.

My big question is, if I put the stronger studs in, where is the stress that was previously being put on them going to go? Is it going to transfer back to the manifold and am I more likely to crack it (if it isn't already)?

im just trying to figure out why its always the two on the far left. i found that the bottom far left was broke on mine ad the top left was just gone. so i replaced them with arp studs. now im again missing the top left and i dont think arp will sell me just one (grrrrr). but anyone know why its always those 2?

nope lol but my top left is stripped out, i have been procrastinating trying to fix it with helicoils since i have to take the power steering pump off or move it to get my drill in there

I always woundered the same. I can generally tell when those bolt are loose or MIA is when you can hear a ticking that goes away once warmed up and its not oil related. lol

I can't say anything on the loss of power but you will definitely hear the high pitched ticking/whistling when you put a load on the engine or like taking off from a stop sign or something. I believe if you look at some of fatti03msp's videos, he has one of his car on the dyno with an exhaust leak from his thunder manifold. It sounds just like that.

CF mirror covers came in the mail today, thanks Discospeed

that would explain the ticking my car makes under load then. and here i thought it came from the crack lol. if i dont fix it right now is it going to feck anything up?

but took apart the apexiR1 exhaust today, have it just as the mid pipe, it ends a lil after the shifter linkage. Actually sounds pretty good and clean. Alot of drone but not horrible.

My bone stock titanium MSP #1345 was delivered from Colorado last Monday with a CEL and 85 octane in the tank. I immediately traced the CEL to a bad coil pack and replaced the bosch plugs with some ZFR6F-11 NGKs. With a full tank of 93 it runs much better but it still has terrible hesitation once warmed up. I had a red 02 P5 5speed before this and loved it but totaled it a couple months back and this car is a beast compared to my P5. I think a new WGA may be the cause for the hesitation but so far I have pulled out the cheesy lights the previous owner installed and put a new K&N filter in.

well im trying to get some 03 msp or p5 fogs.....but i dont plan on getting rid of the 03.5 lip.......so ill be cutting it...... feel free to throw your input in

sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the spot. I just remember watching one of your vidz and thought that it would be a perfect example for those that wanted to know what an exhaust leak sounded like.
