What have you done to your MS3 today?

^^^was that you that posted the video too? I remember this and that's why I'm poo-pooing going to the dealer and having to pay for an hour of diag. I'm gonna have to try and load my stock setting via hypertech and try it again to see if that does the trick, or try the battery disconnect again.

CANBUS can be the best and worst thing

Yeah that was my video taken with my cell phone

Picked up a set of RX8's today!
$200 for all four locally.

3 with s*** ass tires, 1 with no tire. 3 with TPMS (I think) and 1 without.

All four have minor curb rash, scrapes, etc. The tire on the one blew and the lady driving hit the curb with it. It's not too bad, it's a good project for winter!
I'll post some pics up shortly!

EDIT:
PICS!

finished piecing the car back together today after a major audio and dynamat install this weekend. kicker zx7005 amp, powering a 10" kicker cvr sub, polk db components up front, and polk db 5x7s rear. using the pac rca converter, and the factory head unit. + 2 bulk packs of dynamat extreme. time to blast some BFMV

^ cool... i had fun refinishing mine. you have any plans for them?

I think once I get all the curb filled with JB weld, sanded, etc I'm going to paint them white to match my CWP.
I've always been a sucker for 5 spokes ever since I saw the Volvo Pegasus wheels on the S60R. I used to have an S40 and the Peg's only came in 5 lug so I could never get them. Well I got me a set now!

Are yours painted or PC'd? Also, what size tire would you recommend on a stock suspension setup for the least headache?

^^^225/40 would be closest to the odo/speedo, but still need rolled fenders in the rear. At least they did on my buddy's 2009 GT.

As for PC vs. paint, I use to be an avid fan of PC. But then the fact that, if done incorrectly, the structure of the aluminum can become weak scared me off. I then tried painting my stock wheels for the first time and it turned out awesome and has been way more durable than I thought. Those two things combined have changed my tune in the PC vs. paint debate. The cost of paint is another pro, whereas the time in labor is a con. Hope this helps!

I've got 245s on my rx8s on stock suspension. Needed some good fender rolling to make it work. 235s should be ok with a roll

i've got 235s on mine but i'm also lowered and rolled. 225s should be pretty safe either way. mine are painted. paint can look great if you do it right. good prep, primer, paint, clear. just be patient and build up light even coats as you go.

Tires arrived today so I took them over to the powder coater to have them mounted when he finishes his work and got a sneak peak at my new powder coated stockers.

Had to drop the car off at Mazda for a P0401 code which means they'll end up cleaning or replacing the EGR valve on my dollar...... >:/

Black lug nuts showed up today. I have to say this order was the best online purchasing experience I have ever had. Ordered them at 9:27pm Friday night and they were shipped at 10:21pm, somehow (thought the post office closed before then). They arrived in my mailbox from California today (Monday) before I had even tried the tracking number. Unbelievable!

Still waiting for my race wheels to get shipped. May cancel the order with that company and order a set from somewhere else.

So 225's ought to be OK on the stock suspension?

Sorry for (deadhorse but I really don't want any headaches. I live in Nebraska, lowered cars don't fare well here. I might want a VERY conservative drop in the future, but for right now, just stock.

^ yeah, 225s and stock height should be just fine. the worst thing that could happen is that you would need a mild fender roll on the rears...

You live in Nebraska too????? Do you auto-x at all? And why haven't I seen you around before?

Also 10 days out of warranty my car has to have its EGR valve replaced.... cost me 700$. I swear they program them to break right after warranties end. Only 26k miles.

Yeah, NE born and raised. I don't AutoX. Up to now I've just been concentrating on learning to drive the car. My first stick shift...

I'm in Omaha, I think you're in Lincoln? That could account for never seeing each other...

Let's see...what did I do with my MS3 today...

I risked life and limb and car getting to work in a freakin' blizzard today.. 9*F, 30 MPH winds, snowing...Workin' the evening shift at the library: 4-8 PM. I walk in the door and they tell me we're closing at 6:30. WTMF!! The $15 I'm going to make won't even cover the gas I used defrosting my car for 20 minutes to get here...

/rant

No I'm in Omaha too lol.

Swear to god there was someone else on here or the other mazdaspeed forum that AutoX'd and was in Lincoln..

Anyway, IDK. I'm only aware of a few MS3's in town. I haven't even seen another white one. I know of one guy who has a Sport fully decked out in GT package stuff with rims. Is that you?

I used to have rims but I sold them to my friend who has a white speed6. I did just powdercoat my stock wheels black but those won't go on until summer. My snow wheels look just like a regular Mazda 3 wheels.

The guy from Lincoln you're probably thinking about is NTMID8R. I got him involved in auto-x and he loves it. His isn't a speed but he has a lot done and now has my race wheels and tires.

Not to burst your bubble but there is another white one in town, another friend of mine lol, he also auto crosses with me but he usually drives his Cobra at the events.

If you're ever interested in coming out and trying it or just taking a ride give me a shout. We are always looking for new racers.
