What have you done to your MS3 today?

Most of them were older and more experienced but the margin was too great to be on driver skill alone. My last run I made today was the fastest I have ever driven and there was probably only another .5 seconds I could pick up if I tired another 100 times. I just haven't poured the money and time into my car like most of the other guys. Most had tires hanging way outside the fenders and little to no exhaust restriction. One BMW sounded like it was coming straight out of the motor with no pipes at all!

I'm facing the decision of pouring tons of more money into the car and hoping it is competitive or trading it in and getting a car that has been proved that it can be a winner in a specific class. I love the car without a doubt and it's great for track days and auto crossing but I would like to be in contention to trophy next year.

I wouldn't waste the money on trying to make an MS3 competitive in SCCA Solo.

A truly Solo-suited car, the MS3 is not. If you're really looking to be in contention for a trophy next year, you need a different car (perhaps an old Civic hatch or a Miata?).

Look what showed up today:

I would like to thank SU for the great price

I was thinking an RX-8 in B stock. All I would be allowed then is shocks, pads, cat back exhaust, and tires. If I traded in my MS3 and scrounged up some more cash I could get a RX-8 R3 with those nice Recaro seats and Bilstein shocks right from the factory. Plus B stock is nothing but RX-8's anyways. It's nearly a spec class. I'm not sure how it will keep up with the 370Z that was placed into that class this year though. None of them were registered to race except for one in the ladies class which I will watch closely.

I finally have some coilovers heading my way. They'll be here Monday. :)

I would love to see your car. Any chance you will come to EECMM 2010. I know it's a very long drive but there is alot to do there and you could take a whole week and see the south and enjoy our southern hospitality. You could test how the coils handle on the #1 sports car and bike road in America. Tail of the Dragon, 318 curves in 11 miles. The most fun you can have in your car with your cloths on.

I lobbied hard for this years site but plan on lobbing hard for the meet to be in the northeast in 2011.

The 370Z is going to give the RX8 a run for its money in BS. The MS3 will probably never trophy in DSP, but I could see it possibly placing in D-Stock if you get the right setup and driver combo. I enjoy driving the MS3 because it is a hell of car to handle, and if you can learn to be fast in it than a RWD or AWD car should be easy money. I had a few friends from the Carolinas running in DSP (Chris Schmid in SRT-4 & Jon K. in Subaru) and they got smoked, as it is normally a BMW dominated class.

Hey there... unfortunately I won't be going to EECMM this year. It is just too far. I cannot take enough time off of work (I'd only be able to take Friday off). 3/4 of the trip would be spent in the car.

Maybe next year if it is in the NE I'll go. :)

I spent a weekend down there in my Miata.
Parked next to my Miata, my MS3 is like a schoolbus; I can't imagine driving something that big on The Dragon LOL.

Yesterday- unfastened passenger seat, removed Bose sub, bought a used 12" Kicker L5 in ported enclosure.

Today- repaired voice coil leads on the sub, wired it to 2 ohms, threw it into the trunk, connected it to factory sub speaker wires, grinned like a goddamn fool as I heard and felt the difference between a bad 4" sub and a manly 12" sub. (cabpatch) I think I've gone as far as I can go without buying an amp, but there's no rush now. I'm quite content for a while.

Nice!
I want to do coilovers or lower my car with the Eibach Pro Kit, but I just got back from a trip to Philadelphia and my tires are still rubbing on hard bumps and aggressive exit/onramp attacks despite rolling the fender lips flat with the fender.
Maybe I should add a degree of negative camber; what do you guys think?

After a week with my TurboXS HBOV, I've found that I'm more conscious of my shifting, and my clutch/throttle timing has tidied up a bit.
The car feels stronger at WOT too.
I'm running 6 shims as recommended by TurboXS, and I'm experiencing a little flutter when I lift off of partial throttle, but otherwise, the action is smooth and positive.
I'm satisfied with the piece.

I stopped at a rest stop on the Turnpike and had a Ferrari owner come up to me and compliment my license plate which says TIFOSI-1.
That was cool.

30K service coming up this Friday.
