What have you done to your MS3 today?

cleaning my Nano filter tomarrow, I have a Cobb filter recharge kit, this will work for the nano filter as well correct?

I installed my Racing Beat CBE last night.

It's way quieter than stock! It has a nice subtle grumble, and I swear I can hear the turbo even more now! I love it!

Autozone ramps.

I have a few more pics I can post, but I really need to get some day pics/sound clips/videos. The one above is the furthest away picture I have! This exhaust is just awesome. I couldn't be happier.

Dammit, Dale. I was on the fence about a CBE, with the Racing Beat being in the lead. Decisions...

Doo eeeet!

Unless you want your exhaust LOUDER. Then you're in for a disappointment.

I rolled the window down on the way to work this morning... this RB CBE lets out a nice little crackle when starting from 1st.

If I were to do a CBE, I'd only want it quieter than stock when putzing around town. Does it give a nice burble when getting on it? And from where doth thou purchasethed it?

Putzing around it's quieter than the stocker. At idle it's very quiet but it lets you know something's up. It gives a nice burble when getting on it, yes. It's less throaty than the stocker though... more "crackly". And I swear the turbo whine is slightly audible in the exhaust. It's slight but you can hear it if you listen for it with the windows down.

It's hard to explain, but it makes the engine sound more like a high strung 4 cylinder and less like a wannabe beefy 6 cylinder. It doesn't sound like a swarm of angry bees, it just sounds sporty the way a 2.3L 4 cylinder can.

I think the car should have sounded like this stock. It's a much more satisfying sound.

I purchased it from the mighty Ken of Protegegarage. I PM'd him to see if they had it in stock, they did, so I ordered it. I believe it can be purchased directly from Racing Beat as well.

did you install this yourself?

I had two friends over to help and my wife. It ended up being mostly me and one of the friends (the other two cooked dinner).

Cutting the stock exhaust out was the easiest part. Breaking the bolts at the catalytic converter was a b****, lining up the racing beat above the rear suspension was a b****, securing the clamp that holds the tip portion onto the muffler/resonator portion was a b****.

It's definitely doable with two people. In hindsight, I should have put the car up on 4 jack stands or ramps + 2 stands. I was stubborn and insisted we could get it done on just ramps. There were times when I was literally kissing the bottom of my car to reach hangars and bolts.

It's really not that bad if you've ever done a catback install. We got it done in about 2 hours.

In all my time working under cars, I learned doing the exhaust is eleventy bajillion times easier and faster on a lift. Trying to get leverage to break loose rusted bolts while on your back is not high on my To-fap-to list.

I'm pretty sure copperkid posted a video of his racingbeat CBE...but if you get a chance to at least record and post a little audio I'd appreciate it. I'm having a hard time not ordering one of these. For about $20 more you can get the mazdaspeed one and not worry about warranty issues...but, I like the staggered twin tips. You're still running the factory downpipe right?

I drained out the dealer-installed Synlube and re-filled it with Ford Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid(XT-M5-QS). It seems to shift a bit smoother and the LSD has also quieted down a bit. We'll see if a few more miles will silence it completely.

There will be no warranty issues on any cat back.

I don't see how there could be...but based on some of the crazy stuff I've read here....you never know. I can see it now -- we're not covering your A/C condensor because of your non-factory CBE; you see, the free flowing exhaust gasses reduced the resistance on your widgit belt serpantine assembly which in turn caused a overspeed condition in the flux housing sending unit, which everyone knows governs the A/C condensor.

I did not even know that Racing Beat was offering parts for the 3. I think the twin tips look most excellent. Waay better than my Corksport. I am jealous alittle. But congrats any ways and glad you like.
