What have you done to your Miata today?

Nope! And I accidentally just posted the fact that I bought new wheels. Ah well. Not too many locals on this forum anyway.

Found another half-pound to pull out of the car. Any Miata folks need a set of these?

Discovered my miss/stutter was being caused by coolant in cylinder #3. Looks like the head will be coming off, in between all the other stuff I have to get done 10 days before heading back to work.

Took it to a local high school car show since my old auto teacher was the one hosting it. It was pretty sad to see that there was literally only 6 cars that actually belong to students and the rest were my friends cars, mine and other visitors or vehicles that belong to the faculty.

I know.

Ordered the needed gaskets this morning, and after four hours of work I have everything stripped off that needs to be except for the head. Gaskets won't be here until Wednesday so I'm going to wait to pull it off until Monday (that will keep the wife happy as she has a room for me to paint). Since the head will be off I may be doing a spacerless reroute, I have to do some research to see exactly what (if any) additional parts I might need.

If I get this damn P0012 code again... I swear.
I've had it like 3 times already. Cam sensor was replaced at like 70K and it has 92K on it now.

Also the car is drinking friggen fuel like crazy. I've gone 170 miles on this tank which was all highway and it's already below half a tank.. I read that the cam position sensor can get clogged and to try using a cleaning oil like rotella t6, but I am not sure which weight to use considering they do not make it in 10w-30

Friend said a possible bad O2 but I am not sure. My car does seem to run a little rich (Smells like gas on most cold starts)

Could be a stuck / leaky injector, but it's probably the up-stream O2 sensor.

Got creative with some Evaporust, sand, and plastic to de-rust the front lower control arms.

The stuff looks like piss, but works amazingly well at de-rusting stuff.

Made the switch to Rotella today. I wish I could say it made the light go away, but it went away on the way to the store to get oil.

Seems to have helped though. Drove a good bit today and its not drinking gas like crazy.

Pulled the head. Gasket was fine, fasteners all tight so I have no idea what caused the coolant in #3. Only thing that springs to mind is a cracked head but it hasn't been overheated or frozen so I feel that's a pretty remote possibility. Decided to stop stressing about trying to get it done before I go back to work so the car will sit while I'm gone. Wife isn't real happy but she has other cars available.

Can you get the head to a machine shop to be checked while you're out?
