What have you done to your Miata today?

Gonna tackle STR autocrossing again over the weekend after running my '90 the last few times out. So I swapped the good tires onto the '99 today, then wash, then wax. I figure if I'm going to be slow, I oughta at least be slow in a clean car.

I will be running STS for the last time this weekend in mine. After this weekend, she's going on a se-he-rious diet :D

cool! take some pice of the "se-he-rious diet plan"

oh I will. I'll also likely be taking notes of just how much weight I'm taking out of the car. At last check, it weighs about 2025 lbs. This, however, is what I plan on taking out initially. Doesn't include hogging out the structure under the hood and trunk, and tons of other un-necessary stuff that simply will no longer be necessary and that the rules allow me to remove. There's a good bit that can come out even past this:

All carpet / door dill guards / Door panels / Seat belts / Top / Lights / Fender liners /
Head unit / Audio wiring / Speakers / Blower motor / side glass / sail windows /
window motors / Crash structure under bumpers / De-parachute rear bumper /
hood latch / center console / heavy @$$ battery / Airbag / stock steering wheel

in the neon community there was a group that replaced all of the steel fasteners with titanium, they ended up saving almost 200lbs

I believe it. You buying? lol

That said, a significant number of fasteners will simply be removed, which I'm fairly certain will be even lighter than titanium (crazy, I know lol)

Just purchased a 1990 Miata, 207k miles, a few go-fast goodies, and 20 years worth of dings and dents. Looking forward to using it as a track beater for a few years (headbang)

There are 325lbs worth of steel fasteners in a neon? (eek2) Must have some seriously deep pockets to afford 200lbs of titanium fasteners at several dollars a bolt.

Drove mine today.

Waiting on FM to send me the baseline map for the Hydra. Sounded like they were pretty busy when I called yesterday. Hopefully it comes soon.

LOL. With my last two tanks of gas being around 19-21 mpg, I may rename the car Exxon Valdez...
