What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

It is a lot of money, but the evos with same features are around 38k. I also looked at an audi a5 also with no options not even the led lights and it was 37, and it only has 211hp. I did a lot of digging around with new cars, their features and power, this was the best fit and I absolutely love it.

That's a lot of money for that car. Just don't see the value in it.

I think it's a pretty fair price for what you get.

-Outperforms (handling, acceleration, etc.) 9 out of 10 cars on the road in stock form
-More "mature" look compared to prior iterations (relatively speaking)
-They don't have as high of depreciation as some other cars in its segment
-Can comfortably hold 4 adults

Not to mention boxer engines sound oh so sexy!

Good choice on the car Tony.

Also some nice standard features like the bluetooth for the phone, the SI drive is pretty sweet its like having 3 tunes with a switch, heated seats, mirrors, and wiper blades. also came with a 60k mile 6 year bumper to bumper warranty, that covers brakes, wiper blades and even the tires.

I like the STI sedans. It would make a pretty great sleeper with a wing delete (if you can even do that). Congrats, Tony... sad to see another one go down though. Especially a WWP.

How do you find the interior compared to the Speed? That's still one of my favorite things about it, and I haven't seen many new (non-lux) cars that I like near as much.

The wing delete can be done (not doing it though) but the trunk springs need to be changed because of the weight of the wing, as far as the interior I really like it, the seats hug you. and I actually rode in the back seat pretty comfortable and I'm 6 feet tall.

qwik did you notice any difference in your turbo spool under normal DD conditions from the ets to the fmic?

Driving (no boost) normally I can hear the turbo starting to spool when my boost gauge says -3. Just that faint whistle. The bpv goes off too. Seems like i may have a leak but then at WOT I am holding 16-17 psi which is perfect.

With the TMIC I was boosting quite high at around 18 which would get up around 19-20 in 4rth+ around 5200+ rpm.

My tune was designed for the TMIC / CAI setup I had but my A/F and peak boost are even better with the fmic. 3rd-4rth gear I was around 11.4 A/F holding boost at 16.5-17.

Under boost it is great but under normal DD it feels a bit off. Very jumpy too. Could be the cold weather... Anyone have any ideas? This weekend prob going to swap out the worm clamps for t bolts since i still have the front end off.

I just think that a car with the options it has is worth $30-31k. It has become very expensive for what you get, compared to some other, upscale options like a 335xi or A4/S4. Same goes for the Evo. That said, definitely a good looking car, and the sound of a boxer engine is second to none. Enjoy it!

I felt that the car spooled just as fast with the fmic as with the ets. You may need a stronger spring if it is going off at -3. My forge never did that but the hks likes to vent off before boost hits but would shut once you get into it more.

Its hard to answer your question. Are you running a tmic of fmic now? You may need a fine tune when changing from one to the other since the stock tmic has a boost drop. And boost will always varry depending on the weather. Sometimes I used to hold 21psi. Then some days I would hold 19. It just depends. Now that I am on the stock tune it holds 14-15psi. And it is sloooooooow. I guess I have gotten used to the vette.

Another one bites the dust. But he went to the car i want so its ok! haha.
so damn sexy. the last forum wars an STI got top autoX time. made me want more (although i think it was an 09 hatch sti?)

i LUV the new sedan STi... more pics.

installed the testpipe....(woot)

installed the hid fogs....and I have a bad ballast....soooooooooo upset.
half-installed the boost gauge. I still got to get the wiring done. I saw pics of it once, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Thanks Steve, the black on black really does look nice. Actually, ALL of their parts look freakin BEAUTIFUL now that I've spent some time on the site.

IMG_2152.webp ...hm, not sure how to thumbnail that.

kahmikahze, I did the same, put the gauge in first, then the wiring the next weekend. I didn't do a guide, but there are a few good ones around that I used. The toughest part was using a heated coat hanger / screwdriver / awl to make a clean hole inside the vent (I think you're using a Block8head pod, right?) and keeping the wires neat down to the fuse box and sender unit through the firewall. You'll get it, just take your time.

I used a drill to get through the vent tube when I installed my boost gauge, you just have to be careful not to hit the drill chuck on the dash. I felt the vent tube underneath first to make sure I wouldn't hit anything drilling through.
