What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Well...installed a CAI from a REGULAR Mazda6 at the office today.
Used only 1/2 the CAI kit and installed the filter...SRI w/PERFECT fitment + NO CEL for $39...

So...to recap:
Bought a Mazda6 CAI.
Used half the provided kit and fabbed it into a SRI.
Freed up some HP that was held hostage by restrictive stock air box.
No CEL.
Sounds like a devil incarnate now...you can hear the turbo spool & can fiiiiinally hear the ssqv blowing off.
Spent $39
I win.

lol!!! crazy, probly will reliably work too. curious, what is the piping diameter (wondering if it is smaller, larger, same?) cause it looks the same as my MSCAI diameter...

i do not approve. don't jump on the bandwagon! you'll regret it!!! (i would at least, i learned to hate my ford trucks due to bad experiences lol!)

honestly I'm only going to do it if the price is right. I've read nothing but good things about the sport trac adrenalin though and the fact that it shares the 3V 4.6L from the previous mustangs makes it easy to find some mods for if I ever decide I want to do that.

Phil, that looks nice, but I'd be worried about the MAF being so close to the filter. Seems like it would be more sporadic with it's readings there.

JDM-P5, ditch that AutoZone filter.


I'm going to be running my MS CAI (underbody shielding and splash guard intact) through the Wisconsin winter because of the lack of SRI for the V6, other than bad AEM. Wish me luck!

hydro shield & splash guard in line with the fender vents have worked great for me.

survived crazy rainstorms, and giant puddles (pools!).
but alas, calif doesnt have winters compared to you. heh.

Interested in hearing about how that cai works out for you, let us know if any cels pop up.
I'd reccomend taking out that bracket left over from the stock airbox, might free up some extra airflow, besides it looks kinda rough.

Looks like you're running Vta on that hks? How's that working out for you?backfiring?

After being attacked by a flock of seagulls, my car got a nice wash this evening. I'll probably wax it one last time this weekend before it gets too cold.

I also did the homemade aux-mod the other day. It sounds like ass, though, so I'll have to redo it at some point.

Yep, will swap out the filter in good time. It works fine for now.
I was running recirc at first, but now I'm running VTA with the HKS. The Recirc valve is on the bov, but I have yet to see any negative issues, no cel from that and no backfiring...plus no issues w/mpg. But I usually just drive to work (I live on base)...2-3 miles each way. I did a quick jaunt o the highway & the car feels 100x better.
I will remove the bottom of the airbox in due time also...for now, not really worried about it.
