What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

if i taped up my hood like that the tape would melt to the hood.. because i took off the stupid grey heat sheild, the hood gets super hot on long trips and would definetly get hot racing around a track..

sweet pics though.. looks like you guys had tons of fun.

painter's tape is super resilient, my hood got TOO hot to the touch after each race session, not to mention the 104 degree temp all day. :(
But at the end of the day when i took the tape off, it came right up with no residue. :)
LOL, but yay im sure it coulda been bad withouth the heatshield/ducting.

thx! ill post more pics soon, as well as update SOON with my car's LA photo shoot pics.
Track day was a freakin blast!!

Check plugs & lines for possible vacuum leak.
Also, I was reading this morning about pulling the spring from the coils and stretching them out...

from the other forum:
here is a short cut/pasted part of his initial post
So I set a mission for myself today when I got off work. Figure out why the hell my car is sputtering at wot.
Then i started thinking about my previous cars and what if any problems were similar to this and what it took to fix it. I remembered that once i hit about 28psi in my evo it would do something very similar. It was spark blowing out. Well the fix for that was new plugs and taking apart the stock coils and stretching the spring inside each individual coil so that you could get a better contact. So on a wim I decided to give it a try. I pulled apart each coil and stretched the spring just a little. Enough to where it took a little bit of effort to get it back together. Put it all back together and went for a drive. TO MY SUPRISE IT DIDNT SPUTTER!!!!! So i turned the boost up to 18psi and still no sputter. Oh s*** did i stumble upon something or what? I was so stoked. Then for s**** I turned the boost up to 20psi and to my suprise still no sputter. So i headed home and put the ets tmic back on, and the sri. Went for some pulls and man the car is straight up MOBBING at 18-20psi. Air fuels were around 10.4 which means there is room for more. I cant wait to get my full turbo back on this hog and hit the dyno. The best part is it pulls all the way to redline and boost holds strong.

Im not saying this is gonna be a fix for everyone but it worked for me. Do me a favor if you are sputtering at wot, give this a try and tell me if it helps it.

Okay, I was thinking to myself that this simple mod would NOT correct my 2nd to 3rd gear WOT sputter >>> but it did!!!!

It took less than 10 minutes
I removed the 8mm hold down screws from the coil on plugs
you'll notice where the plastic and rubber meet about 3-4 inches from the bottom of the coil on plug. pull and twist to seperate the sleeve from the coil
there is a spring laying in there which is only held in place by these two pieces being pressed together
the spring is thin and tightly wound on both ends....leave the ends alone
concentrate on the center of the spring where it is think and heavily wound
I stretched mine 2-3 inches IN THE CENTER
so much that I had to crefully seat both ends in the coil/sleeve and "carefully" sandwich back together
I didn't disconnect the battery of even disconnect the coil on plugs from the harness to do this.
For those with TMIC's it will take 10 minutes + the time to remove your top mount IC

I'm actually designingcoil lead replacments for the regular 6 and speeds. To replace those so that there is no longer a problem with the sputtering. So stay tuned for the release of those.

I finally fixed my prosport gauge today after struggling with the power wires for a week or two.. Next mods to do this week will be the foglight mod to run them with the parking lights and the brake light mod to light up all 4 brake lights.

Where u wire ur prosports gauges? I just wired all of mine up in the steering column on the ignition switch anf headlight switch. Its all right there including a good ground wire to tap off of.

Washed and waxed the car today. Looks 100% better. Spot clayed some spots that were messed up, and the car has a great shine.

Went to Napa and picked up an oil filter and a new cabin air filter, need to pick the cabin air filter up before 7pm.

Just Found out ill be getting some banners/goodies from Mazda for the new shop... HUGE thanks to Alex from Cape Cod Mazda for helping me get those. cant thank him enough... Im super stoked to see them.

dang i forgot about the cabain air filter i wonder what mine looks like at 47k lol.

i drove it to school. and found a DSLR in my sisters room so ill be taking some pics tonight probably

Just changed out the CAF, holy s*** it was dirty! I do it every spring, since where I live/work is very dusty. Had all sorts of grey s*** on it, and some tree buds and broken down leaves on it.

LOL, bad tape job i know. Friends did it, not me!!! rofl, my pro tapping was really nice for my long NorCal trip.
EDIT: Pic size fixed.

How did that M5 run? :)

Hey, who sells the yellow fog light covers? or is it just yellow overlays?

If you guys haven't noticed..I've been asking a steady amount of questions, because I have an idea in my mind of what I want the car to look like when everything is done. lol.

how do you get the filter out and back in again with that brace on the right side? do you have to remove that brace? I'm confident I could pull that thing out, but I'm not confident I could get a new one in without ruining the filter.

It's very easy to get in/out if you have the proper filter. I bought a Wix filter last time and it was too wide, so that brace got in the way. With the Napa 4579, it went in by lightly bending the filter in and putting the right corner in first, then getting it lined up, and sliding it in the rest of the way. Took me all of 10 minutes once I started to empty the glovebox out.

damnit steve i was just gonna put in my (2cents) about it.. was gonna basically say what you did lol.. i did the same thing the first time and got the wrong wix filter then went back and got the Napa 4579 one.. no issues to date with it, its actually alot quieter when the a/c is running with the new filter on there.. i guess not having a huge mouse nest in their helps..(alright)

Yellow overlays anyone?

id personally just change the bulbs over to 3000k HID's.. Steve has a thread on it..

http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123756514

he did it with 6000k's but if you want the yellow look go with 3000k.. theres a website where you can buy them listed and its just plug and play basically

Taylor (Qwik6) has some 3000k's installed last i knew.. maybe he can chime in with a picture or 2 of them..:)

Holy crap.
This was taken from 400+ HP MS3 thread...

The same setup would work for a speed 6, Btw, here's a video of the car accelerating before I change setups. Btw, the car is barely quicker than a c6 z06 right now. The car is able to accelerate from 60-120 a split seconds quicker than a z06.

IMO, my tune is pretty solid. If i ever see KR it is usually .4 and the highest I've seen it is .7. I never see PT KR and I rarely see it @ WOT.

Here's some 3rd gear pull logs

I wired the red power wire to the clock on the radio, the white to the cig lighter pos, the orange to the coin tray light, and the ground to a bolt under the cupholders.
