What have you done to your CX-5 today?

A Big Hug

Well each day I give my handsome sweetheart a hug and inspection. Got to keep him happy to insure a safe ride and good MPG. Recently I installed European stock rear fog lights. Hope to make a full post with pics soon. Next I need to install a set of additional auxiliary driving lights. Don't know which would be best for a CX-5? Anybody have ideas or already installed lights? Please let me know.

Geez, BMuzzy, I hope you didn't spill any of that JD all over your beautiful Parchment interior.......that'll get get rid of the new car smell in a hurry! (beer)

Busted a tail light, so I decided to order the full set of "Spyder LED" tail lights (same ones that Chris_Top_Her has). I really like the look of them on his. Sorry for copying the look, but I don't plan on driving to San Antonio so we won't have that awkward "same-dress-to-the-party moment" (2thumbs)
I've got one for you, two weeks after I bought my '16 Ti Flash Mica GT, the office secretary shows up to work and says she bought a new car. Guess what she bought? A 2016 Mazda CX-5...Titanium Flash Mica...Grand touring trim. (wow) Exact same car with the exception of the seat color (I got black and she got the white).

(notcool) Dang that sucks! Sorry I didn't sugar coat it, but I would be upset about that too. Now you for sure have to get some appearance mods going. I recommend going with dark colored wheels, tinted windows, and maybe a slight tint on the tail lights to start with. At least you got the better leather color, black is where it's at!

the new 3D maxpider removed the "3Dness" from the gas pedal area right ? and u dont mind that?(snow and rain will escape from there)

i was thinking about going to the dealer and check out the "premium 3D liner" they had for CX5'
already saw the one for mazda6 the material and pattern is ugly compare to maxpider, but i hope cx5 premium liner has the "lifted edge"

Yeah, at first I was like WTF...but, she's a cool person, and she wanted a cool looking car, so I can't really be mad. :D

It’s true that the current Maxpider mats appear to be a little flatter around gas pedal . We’ll have to see if this is an issue once the bad weather sets in. But I do like the Maxpider mats for their coverage on the dead pedal and the exposed gas filler release latch and of course, they’re priced attractively.

New tail lights arrived so I got those installed. I'll post pics when I get it cleaned up - we've had freezing rain/ slightly above freezing rain here in the Midwest for the past week. Also ordered new LED lighted fog light surrounds off ebay (DRLs). Probably won't have those for at least a week since they're coming over from China.

Did a few things over the weekend (post Thanksgiving):

1) Installed new wheels and tires -- Stance SC-1 20 x 8.5 (35mm offset) in brushed titanium finish, wrapped with Michelin Latitude Sport 255/45/20 tires.

2) Ordered from Japan through an importer: Beatrush strut tower bar, front lower bar, rear lower bar

3) Ordered 2016 OEM Mazda CX-5 LED taillights set

You realize that the hinge defeats the purpose of an STB...that hinge means it's made to be easily fitted to different cars by the OEM vs being specific to one car.
Also for only a bit more you can get a 4 point bar, that lca has 2 main bolts on each side

Yes, thanks.

I'm using the STB more for looks with some a little of function. I don't race my CX-5, nor drive it hard. Just looking for a little more rigidity.

nice! any pics of new wheel/tire setup?? im also in sd! (headbang)

Not yet. When I get a chance to wash the car, pics will soon follow thereafter. It's my daily driver commuting to Orange County. Similar to all my current and previous cars, I can't leave anything stock! Ha

It is not as rigid.
Think about it this way, if you have two towers and they would fall sideways, the hinges won't stop them to fall.

The purpose of the STB is to reduce lateral flexing at the shock towers caused by body roll/metal fatigue over long periods of time. Having a hinge there allows the very movement the bar is supposed to reduce. I'm just saying that cost ~$100 for about $30 more you can have the function as well.

Agreed. I have had UR products on my previous vehicles, mostly on my Toyotas and Lexuses. Definitely noticed the difference when I installed them. Just wanted something a little different for my Mazda CX-5. Much appreciated nonetheless!
