What have you done to your CX-5 today?

She doesn't look as good as this anymore, but that will change:

nice nice, I was thinking the newer rx-7 but that's cool too

'79 RX-7 was the first Mazda I ever rode in. One of my dad's friends bought one brand new. It is probably the first car I ever experienced 100+ MPH as well.

Added a Curt trailer hitch, C13127, purchased from Etrailers.com. Shown is the 1-up bike rack.

Blur LT2? I had one but wasn't feeling the VPP on my tracks. Lovely bike, though!

My first Mazda was an 84 RX-7 GSL. Such a fun, light car. I remember hitting the rev limiter so quickly and kept looking in the mirror because I kept hearing a horn beeping at me. Turns out it's the alarm sound when hitting said limiter!
Why would you have this done to a brand new car?!

You assume the paint is perfect because it's "new". But, after traveling across the Pacific from Japan on a barge, leaving the port on a truck, sitting at a dealership, who knows what they do to it while it's sitting (not professionally detailed, for sure) there's a lot of contaminants that can be introduced. I clay barred, waxed and washed mine around 200 miles "new" and almost 12,000 later it still shines bright despite the winter weather and no cleaning due to cold weather. After fresh paint has cured, it's never too early to detail your paint.

I should not have use the term "scratches" in my post. Made it sound worse than it was. It was more like lines and upon further inspection I'm certain it's just lines in the wax and not down to the paint level. Probably just excessive wax that was not completely buffed out. As I mentioned they disappear in natural light so all is well. Wish it would stop raining so I could taker her out though! She's been garaged for 3 days now. Kind of nice driving the truck again though, especially with the crappy weather.

I miss my '79 rx7, where did you get that huge whale tail?

I bought it in '85 from the company that made them for the IMSA cars. You can still buy them from Mariah Motorsports. I have a widebody kit to go on it along with the spoiler. The TII hood was the last exterior piece I wanted, just didn't know if I would ever find one and lo and behold, I found the guy making new ones.

Sweet.. my local nursery owner has one tricked with HUGE sequential turbos and running 8's in the 1/4. I want to get me another Rx7 and a 91-97 Miata since I don't fit in the new ones. See I can find them cheap and just tinker with them in the back yard.

Close! It's a Tallboy 2. I do like it but if I had to do it again I think that I'd opt for a 27.5 model over the 29er. The 29er can get squirrely in the technical stuff.

I did think that the wheels did look a little big! Yeah, I never got into the big wheel fad. After the VPP, I went with DW Link, and it much smoother for me. I see you're running a single ring in the front, too!

Let my wife put her bike in it to take to practice in the rain and mud. So, I basically abused my CX-5 yesterday. :-(

It's an optical illusion. There are 3. I had an old Bridgestone MB-1 that I replaced with the Santa Cruz. I was long overdue for a new bike and the 29ers were all the rage when I did so. Without a doubt, it will roll over anything, but not so great for the technical portions of my rides. I haven't ridden a DW link but I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Just want to put it out there my current wheels (TSW Mallory 20x8.5 +40) may be going up for sell (w/o tires most likely, need to confirm some things). There will be 5 (spare). I will most likely have all of them refurbished prior to sell.

I installed front and rear splash guards. Fronts went on no problem. Backs were weird. There were all these extra instructions I just ignored. Basically there were 5 holes that I figured needed to line up with 5 holes and forget everything else. 4 holes lined up perfectly but 1 did not so I ended up with 2 extra bolts and clip nuts (1 from each side) and a couple circle things I have no idea about. Anyways it looks good imo. I'll post b4 and after pics tomorrow night.

Son of a b****! I left my SD card in my computer so all those before and after pics were an exercise in futility. It's a new camera. Stupid thing should flash some kind of warning on the LCD, "NO SD CARD". Thing wasn't cheap either. Anyway, I'll snap some AFTER pics tomorrow in case anybody is interested on how they look with the Blue Reflex.
