What have I done?

Timing belt, water pump and the usual at 100k. Front struts at 130k. Transmission rebuild at 165k. Two headlights, a door lock actuator, a window regulator, four o-rings on various controls/switches on the engine, one set of front brakes and the usual regular maintenance. Twenty five years and 200k miles on my 00 Accord. My wife wanted an SUV and the CX5 is what we came up with. We sold the Honda because we don't need three vehicles. Will the CX5 hold up as well?

It definitely will to the end of the warranty period providing the manufacturer is willing to repair what breaks. At my dealership it appears (according to a sign outside) that the warranty is now 10 years but on exactly what I don't know, never asked. I doubt that you'll get 25 years out of it but if you maintain it well you'll get your money's worth out of it or just get bored with it and buy something newer. Anyway, isn't it fun to own a new vehicle for about a year - that's the time limit for the novelty to wear off.

I admit that I do like heated leather seats and keyless entry and all that other stuff. Did I mention heated seats?

Congrats on your long-tern Honda! The CX-5 is very reliable, and it's been around long enough to work out most of the issues. Take good care of it, odds are it will hold on for a long time.

I like CX5 so much that I got two in my house... :)
Mazda has the best overall packages among all Japanese brands in my opinion.
Reliability might not be the best but still top notch.

You call rebuilding a transmission at 165K holding up? I expected better than that from a Honda. My daily is an 08 Civic and I replaced short block and head last year at 195,525K. Still has original transmission now at over 225K.
I just bought a 2024 CX-5 two months ago, my 2nd Mazda ever. I hope it holds up...

Considering that generation had it's known problems and the fact that I never gave it the maintenance required, and I did treat it like a hot rod at times (did you know that even those 4 bangers could break the tires loose)?

Yup broke mine loose a couple time and it's an automatic. My daughter has the same year model but it's a 5-spd. Well you know what I can do with that lol

I second that. At this price point I think it is the best bang for your buck out there. Two years in and no issues. I purposely wanted a Japanese made vehicle, and this checked all of the boxes.
