Just got the car yesterday. The car is idling over 1000 rpms, is that normal. Also is there a how to to change the spark plugs. And when I brake I hear a noise that sounds like im sliding. Does that mean that the pads needs to be changed

Mine idles around 700 depending on whether or not the a/c or high output stereo is on.

yeah before the car is warmed up or before i begin to drive it, it will idle a little above 1000 but once i get going it will drop off to a point like 500-800, somewhere in there

Fully warmed up with AC off, according to my digital tach the engine idles at 690-700 RPM and never varies outside that range.

With AC on, the engine idles at 740-750 RPM again without variation outside that range.

ur #1 question was answered and i was around the same level listed above!!
#2 question about spark plugs= their is probally a how to but it is so simple maybe not!!
pull the 4 bolts holding on the coil packs! pull out the coil packs and the other 2 plug wires! get a spark plug socket with an extension and turn left down the 4 holes ;)
with the brakes, i would change the pads, it will not hurt anything!!

Is your car auto or manual? Autos idle higher.

its manual. I asked my friend who had a MX-6 and he said he thinks it does it to pump fluids through all the lines when its cold

There is a cold idle and a warm engine idle speed. Cold should be ~1,000 rpm and the warm should be between 650-750rpm...

Ma car was idlin over 1000 in da start i had to reduce it now its idlin jus above 700.....
