freekwonder said:well i got lucky. i only have a high school diploma. IM working on my Tcom degree with Devry right now. but the marine Corps stationed me at the DFAS center in Kansas City. when i got out of the corps they offered me a job as a GS-09, and a year later I got my GS-11. which is the equal to a Captian. so all the guys that use to call me and out rank me, well i techniqually out rank them now![]()
Sweet! You notice my avatar titles says "Always Flips the Game." Well, that comes from always overcoming adversity. I went from being a box handler in Fed-Ex's wharehouse to IT? Try to tell me big J.C. wasn't in the mix there! At the time I was attending ITT- TECH for a A.A.S. in EET. The sister of the manager at Baylor was working with me at Fed-Ex and hooked me up. She warned me though. I worked for Baylor Hospital as a Computer Operator I, and in 3 months, I was the senior operator!:wtf: Turnover there was high due to bad managment. After being there 9 months, one of my friends who used to work there gave me the site of a Temp Agency looking for someone with Unix Skillz. The only reason I had those skillz is because I used to read, and learn about Linux all the time. The management in my department at Baylor was afraid to teach you too much because of the hostile environment, so I had to learn Unix on my own. Well, I ended up taking a chance on that temp job which was a 6 month Contract job for AT&T Wireless. The worst that could happen is in 6 months, I won't have a job, and they would have another waiting for me. Boy I miss the days of the good economy....Anyways, after 6 months, they hired me on permenant, and that's where I've been for 3 years! I don't even use my degree that I am paying sooooooo much for.:wtf:
