What do you dislike most about your Speed 3?

Now that I own one...

1. It should've came with MP3 playback capability from the beginning.
2. It's not AWD.
3. The stock intake is too restrictive.
4. Too much engine movement when shifting.
5. Full-size spare would be nice.
6. Bose system should've came with a better subwoofer

Its strengths still outweigh its weaknesses.

I was at the dealership on saturday trying to figure out what that Bose box was underneath the passenger side front seat. And the sales guy couldn't tell me where all 7 speakers were?

I know theres one in each door, then a tweeter, so that's 6. Where's the 7th?

hit the dimmer button right next to the speedo, it'll brighten them back up to stock

The steering wheel hides the dimmer button perfectly for me - I had to post to find out why I couldn't see gauge numbers with lights on in the daylight. I had assumed the dimmer rheostat should perform that function. Too stupid to read the manual......

Having just gotten mine two days ago, I will state that one gripe I have is the stiff clutch pedal. My old car (Acura Integra) had an amazingly smooth and easy-to-use clutch. This one takes some getting used to, and even then I still am a bit jerky.

The cheesy radio controls kinda bother me -- those flashing lights are really out of place.

I'd have liked it if Mazda could've adapted the Speed6 4WD system for the Speed3, but oh well.


These are relatively minor gripes, as the car as a whole is incredibly fun and practical.

Go to your radio setup (right knob I think my car isn't with me ) and turn ILLM EFT off. That stands for Illumination Effect.

It probably impresses women and children though.

I'd say they're counting the subwoofer underneath the passenger seat as the 7th speaker.

It's a law in some places, I know at least in VA your car isn't supposed to pass state inspection if the fogs will come on without headlights being on. Also, your car won't pass inspection if fogs are equipped but not working!

That's weird. I think the MS3 has the softest clutch pedal I've ever used. The clutch itself grabs well for being stock though.

The sub is under the passenger seat, the amp is under the driver's seat.

In which case, what's stopping you from an STI. Good point MS3077. Unfortunately, car enthusiasts always want more for less. Can ya blame us? No. But you gotta be realistic too.

exactly, yes awd would be awesome in our existing cars, but mazda made it fwd for a reaaason! if it were awd it would just be another fat, sloppy r32

The Bose stereo sucks - it sounds like crap and cannot play mp3 files! Also, the gas mileage is lousy ...

Agreed on the Bose but what kind of mileage were you expecting? Im getting 25 MPG which is better than a lot of cars out there with the same level of power...were you expecting 40 MPG? if so keep it out of boost...

I'm sorry but I have to laugh every time I see someone complain about the gas mileage. I cannot WAIT for this kind of gas mileage when I get my MS3. I've been a pretty consistent gas customer..

05 GTO - 16 city / 26 hwy
07 TBSS - 12 city / 16 hwy (lord have mercy).

I literally spend about $70 every week or so to fill the SS up. I don't wanna hear NOTHING about lousy gas mileage.

MS3 14.5 gal tank - 19 city / 26 hwy
TBSS 22.5 gal tank - 12 city / 16 hwy

Tell me who's screwed more! lolol

No sun roof/moon roof option, no sunglasses holder, the fact that they left the Japanese center console and didn't modify it for America (e-brake and small indent are on the passenger's side), no rear hatch release from inside the vehicle (like the gas door), the fact that the hatch light has to be turned off rather than it turning off when you close the hatch, no heated side mirrors, no one touch up/down window switches, no switch-blade key, no boost gauge, and that 60mph is where 35mph is on most speedometers (ticket waiting to happen fopr me). Other than that, I pretty much love it, and for around $25K, who am I to complain?
