What did you pay for your CX-5?

A word about doc fees. Some states have legislated low caps--NY is $75, CA is $80. Who's going to quibble about that? FL is at the other end of the spectrum with no cap. Consequently, the recent average in FL is $670 per a recent report. That means some dealers are slapping on more than that. [Democratic Socialist states are not all bad ;)]

$670 is nearly pure profit and should certainly be negotiable. If you know what it is up front and negotiate to a satisfactory all-in, does it matter if they knocked more bucks off the MSRP or reduced the doc fee to something rational? No. But if you go in to sign the papers and that $670 is a surprise, there's something to talk about ink goes to paper.

Then there's Dealer Prep, which is something entirely separate. Doc is for doing the paperwork, Prep is for preparing the car. What do you think they do in prep--take off protective plastics, install floor mats, wash it. If you're lucky they'll check some of the things they would check for free with an oil change--fluid levels, tire pressure. Some buyers report those basic checks were not performed discovering the tires were underinflated and the trans fluid underfilled at the factory. If they toss on $25 I'm sure not going to muddy up the big picture. $200? $300? NFW If it's sprung at the last minute, charge it if you must, but a like amount will have to come off MSRP. Reprint the contract.

Fun fact, dealers get paid in full from the manufacturer to Prep and PDI the vehicle as a billable item. If anyone is asked to pay a prep fee etc, tell them they're already getting it and you will NOT pay them but nice try.

Anyone know what cx-9 GT prices are going for off MSRP as straight dealer discounts? I posted in the 9 forum but no response yet.
Not specifically. It might vary by location anyway. What you can do is go to KBB.com and check CX-9 trade values for your zip code for 2020's with like trim, excellent condition and 10,000 miles. You might have to back up some years to find any depending on where you are. If those used values are staggering high you can bet $ off MSRP on a new one will be a hard get. Harder still if "straight up" means no trade, no financing, no nothin', none of the other prongs where dealers find profit.

KBB is generally considered to be dealer friendly (i.e., low balling), as hard as that is to believe when I see my 2020 CX-5 with 12,200 miles showing a trade value right at the original MSRP! You can then turn around and spot check by going to cars.com or autotrader.com or whatnot and and see what dealers are asking for them. I have no idea how negotiable these prices are in this environment.

I wouldn't doubt that KBB number on my vehicle given what cars.com is showing for asking prices on used in my area, with few low mileage in recent years. There's a 2020 Sport AWD in white with about 9,500 miles with an ask of $29,900. Ouch. Not much for 2019, but there are three 2018 GTs at the top of page one with 27,000 - 36,000 miles with asks between $26,900 - $27,900. For three year old cars about to turn four? That qualifies as an ouch as well.

there's pretty much zero chance of getting any dealer discount right now, even if you can find a new one in stock. 2022s should be arriving in 4-6 weeks but if the inventory situation stays like it's been lately, dealers will not be discounting anything

Not sure where you're located, but I did an inventory search in Phoenix and there were only 4 CX-9's at 6 dealerships, though that may be wrong as my dealer has 1 CX-5 Signature on their website yet the Mazda inventory website shows 0

Anyway if you go to the dealers websites you'll see that it looks like the toilet papers shelve did in May of 2020. That said if you do find one will the dealer give you a few buck off since they want it off their lot or will they charge you full price because they know they're aren't any others around. Were are you located, I'd love to see the dealers nearby

I searched my nearest 3 Mazda dealers for 2021 CX5 GT-R and Sig models. (in SF Bay Area)
I found 0.

Good luck getting any dealer to give you discount off MSRP.
Reality is $5K ADM and you negotiate price you pay from there downward.
Dealers' lots are fairly empty than ever.
I suspect that they are waiting for 2022 to arrive soon.
ADM shall remain... not that I like it.

The local dealer that I've used for service has no CX-9's.

However, they show 87 CX-5s most of which are flagged as "Just Arrived" 2022s with no pictures, descriptions or trim designations, just an MSRP, VIN and a Model Code such as "CX525 TXA". Arrived where is the question. They're on the way in any case.

That's odd. While still on the boat my dealer knew what his incoming cars were - at least he did for my 2021 Signature

Yes. When I special-ordered my 2016 CX-5 GT AWD, my Mazda dealer had all the info (VIN, options, etc.) when it’s still on the boat on the way to Long Beach.

If you go to the aforementioned dealer site at this link...

...you'll see "Just Arrived" vehicles with little detail. Click on one of them and it shows the VIN.

It stands to reason vehicles placed on order for inventory are allocated down to the specific VIN at some point in the process, whether back at the factory or at a landed distribution point. I think it is fair to say they'll hit the lots soon unless they're sitting in a factory parking lot waiting for some chip. ;) Who knows how many would have deposits on them before they arrive.

Anyone know when the 2022 CX9s will land?
Here's an article posted yesterday that says Mazda just set pricing on 2022 CX-9 this week. The last line says it will hit dealers "this winter". Unlike CX-5, also set for "this winter", there's no link to 2022 CX-9 at Mazda USA. It kinda sorta looks like it will trail CX-5 to the lots.

Thats interesting. Upon checking some of the VINs this popsup. I wonder what PP stands for? preproduction may be or the Premium package

They've changed the trim nomenclature. That's a "CX-5 2.5 S Premium Plus", a non-turbo trim. What you posted shows "Premium Plus" (PP) for $0 so whatever that includes is standard in that trim.

That syncs up with the pricing link in my previous post. Click on that link, scroll to the bottom and you'll see this::

CX-5 2.5 S Premium Plus$33,950

That $33,950 evidently does not include the destination charge.

The verbiage in that link describes key trim differences.

As for CX-9, if you go here...

...and click on "Vehicles", a link to 2022 CX-5 to be released "this winter" has been out there for quite a while. Still no CX-9 link there which is what I was referring to earlier though the pricing page has equivalent details.

Please rate below offer from a dealer for a 2021 CX5 - GT with premium package

MSRP: 34790
Reg Fee: 300
Tire fee: 12
Dealer doc fee: 175
taxes: 2314

Total : 37640

Dealer is ready to give 1000 off of MSRP. Is it a good deal ? Should i take it ?

If I need to ask servicing packages, what should I ask for? Newbie in car purchases. Appreciate all the help

Such deal is not possible in SF Bay Area. I search three local dealers. In combination, there is only 1 CX5 left, any models. :(
