yeah im just trying to torture you... it has nothing to do with school or anything
anyways, the mold is "done" as in its removed, but theres still a LOT of prep work before its usable. i bought the material to fillet the corners yesterday, but havent had time to apply it. i took a little time to start looking at MasterCAM for the DaveB's instead - i can make a spoiler later, but theres only 8 weeks to finish that project.

Next time take pics with ur phone, when u do the mock up on a Reg Protege..
i like the idea, i should really add it to the list, but a set of four is probably more expensive than what most people would be interested in spending.
i dont exactly have permission to be there, and while i would be happy to tell them what i was doing, id just assume not have to.

Maybe I missed it, but what's the projected price for the spoiler? In glass and in cf... Maybe there could be a trade in our future
i would love a trade, the ceiling looks to be about 200 for CF and probably eh about 150 for fiberglass, so CF would fit into a trade very nicely.
just an update on that, i started putting in the fillets yesterday but its going very slowly. i dont have actual fillet material and tools, so im using modeling clay and a popsicle stick. you cant buy experience like that. the clay keeps wanting to lift out of the radius though and if its doing that when im trying to smooth it i cant imagine it would hold up well to a part being pulled. i could definitely be wrong as it will get a layer of resin
im very seriously considering starting this over. it sucks but in this whole process of trying to make it work well ive learned leagues about how to do it better the first time around. im gonna take some more time to work with this one today and tomorrow, but if conditions havent improved by then im reconsidering moving forward with a mold i have some doubts about.
if i do it over, it would probably be a hardwood or styrene block pattern cut similar to the trunk pattern like the 4x4 was. it would be a consistent 1"-1.5" wide and 3/4" high, then the face would be cut with a router and the actual MOLD would be in CF since its way more workable than any other fabric i have, and would be perfect for the tight radius at the top and complex corners at the ends. THAT would go smoothly compared to this but would involve starting over, and i dont know what i feel about that. so at least a plan b is in place in the event this mold gets tossed.
like i said, hopefully i have some more answers by monday, but i will say i am continuing this project reguardless of what happens between now and then.

Are you using a prepeg that will stand up to years of the sun or will I need to paint the CF?
