what carbon fiber parts would you want for the MSP?

i will be clearcoating a lot of the stuff i offer, but what it is cleared with depends on the item and how i plan to sell it (per order or GB only). something like eyelids will probably get acrylic lacquer but if i do the spoilers a few at a time they will probably get automotive grade 2-part aerosol clear. the cans of that are about 20 each and are usable for 24 hours after you pop the top, so i wouldnt use it on a per-item basis.

id love to do prepreg but unfortunately i dont own a 6 bar / 200* celcius autoclave in my apartment.

well I think you aughta get on that autoclave! LOL

prepreg CF would also drive the cost of a spoiler up into the $500 range...

well if i get the autoclave i have to get the CNC mill for the molds as well... thats where they get you. of course, a CNC mill would have been nice for this project even as wet layup, but hey who's counting.

actually... pope whats the maximum length for a part in your rapid prototyper?

eh just looking at prototyping right now - no decision about routing a new one yet. what materials can you RP in? and how much would you charge me per cubic inch? and how many cubic inches per hour can you do?

It would be much easier to route than to prototype. I can print in ABS or HPDE. I can route in most all woods and possibly aluminum.

if you can route along a double curve id be interested in hearing what bits you have... i know some table routers dont like double curves. were you planning to do this with the reprap?

as far as prototyping goes, i know routing is easier but the price of a good router bit is brutal, or i could get a cheaper one and have a ton of post processing. if youre not interested in doing RP i might get in touch with the school to have them quote me a rapid prototyping price. their quick-quote said a wax-coated plaster pattern was gonna be less than the router bit i was looking at.

so let me know about the other stuff as well as a cubic inch rate.

Pretty much any interior piece. The door release (you pull to open the door) and the larger, rubbery door handle (to close the door). Also, the part at the top that's covered in fabric, in carbon fiber. Why not the whole door panel? Just in pieces maybe?

Glove box front
Plastic part surrounding the controls on the doors. Mine are starting to lift off anyways.

Don't know if any of these were said, i'm way too tired to read the whole thread (it rhymed haha)
