what carbon fiber parts would you want for the MSP?

MechE/Archie? thats a weird combo. studying or professional?
i switched from mechanical to civil/structural and never looked back. although all this composite work kind of makes me look back... and the CAM... the fact is though, the deeper i got into the mechanical curriculum, i realized the less you focus on innovation and building things, and the more you focused on boring s*** like six sigma processes, crack propogation, and fatigue mechanisms.
at least in structural you always focus on making buildings stand up. we still get to play with cool stuff - my partner and i just finished one of our structural models for our senior design class and it looks awesome. we used the laser cutter for it
. ill post pics somewhere tomorrow, its too cool not to show off.

So when I graduated I landed a job at an arch firm, now I'm back in school halfway done with a masters in Arch and I love it!

you were lucky to find a job - structural guys and archies have it really, really rough right now. the unions like to complain about how they dont have any work right now, but guess what were in the same sinking ship, and we wasted 5 years of our lives and 5 years tuition to book a ticket. plus we dont get the nice unemployment/benefits lifejacket like they do.

While you guys do that... Im going to be a CNC machinest and programer... Startig to learn from my dad. Hahah. Gotta learn all I can so I can take over the company and make some sweet parts haha. Ford has a 125,000 part order. I think it's for part of the airbag system. Lol. But don't have a machine for tht size part yet. //enduselessinfo

We only have 1 machine right now. only does parts less then a inch. We want to get a bigger one, which we are waiting and looking still.
The one we got we bought for 12,000. But needed about 6,000 in parts. only costed 18,000$. The guy that goes around and tells people how much they are worth said its worth AT LEAST 38,000$. So my mom can find good deals. But I typed up a program and loaded it on.... soooo many errors.... haha. My dad is trying to get it to work right (the program) which he is trying to test the rear spindle. The program i typed up is actually a Citizen show/test walkthough they have for demo's. which somehow my dad got ahold of... (being in the job for over 30 years helps) haha

Is the pic telling me good or bad things? I see cracks but they may be intentional.
good things... the cracks are intentional, theyre stress relief cuts in the fabric along the portion not actually being molded.
so yup - it came off in one piece, which is all i was hoping for based on how difficult it had been... pretty painlessly at that. the surfaces turned out better than i expected as well. i have to find something i can use as a fillet tool (these look awesome) and get some plasticine or something to patch up the joint, but it looks better than i expected. not the best mold ive ever made, but due to the complications im ecstatic at how it came out.

just mock-fitted the mold up against one of the few proteges around here. the rise in the middle is maybe .5" too high, but the curve along the back of the lid is essentially perfect. this mold is definitely useable, so i have to trim it down a bit further and do the plasticine and a little patchup work where i can before i pull a tester in fiberglass(!!)
