What are everyone's thoughts on the upcoming MazdaSpeed 6? I think, I like it!

sounds like a winner to me. now mazda has something to compete against subaru and mitubishi. i know ill have to cheack it out

Yea, sounds pretty damn good to me too. Although I would like to see a little bit more power out of the Speed version of the 6 than 270. I think they should ship it with say 300-310hp...wouldn't be hard for them to do it with the 6.

The car is a little larger than the subi, and mitsu...so that little extra bit of ponies would help out a lot.

270hp is okay with me. After last weekend, and having 493hp at my disposal - nothing else really matters. Since, I don't race,,,,who really cares?

I like it too. But I don't love it yet.

0-60 in only 6.6???? That's really bad for a 278hp car. How much weight does the AWD add for god sakes. I'm hoping those numbers are conservative and once we see some real testing on a final car it'll be better

I'm glad they didn't butcher the car though. I didn't want to see some 3 foot tall spoiler on the back, and the car 1.5 inches off the ground. They kept it conservative. Killer is, it's a little too conservative. The wheels don't do anything for me, and I tend to like the look of a Normal 6 with the ground effects and spoiler more. It's a bit plain looking imho. And I wanted to see a better stereo as replacing the bad all in one unit dash contraption on the 6 would be a b****.

That being said, my dealer emailed me yesterday and said they are going to order one in, and then asked me what color "I" wanted. Sons of a #@$#@$. That's all I needed was someone to plant the idea in my head about trading the MSP. MY woman is going to hate me next spring :)

Not saying I'll get it, but you never know. There's one on the way, if things should fall in place, hmmmmm, ya just never know. I do still love my MSP. Flash back to when I had a MP3, the same time of year in 2002, same amount of KMS on her, and I was also thinking that I didn't need a MSP. See how that turned out?

I do need to buy new tires next spring if I keep her, that'll cost me 1200 bucks...hmmm, that could be part of a downpayment.....ah damn it, I'm already starting to consider it.

.......AWD would be real nice in the winter too.

:)

If it came it the hatchback version I'd get one for my wife for sure. but since it doesn't, looks like I'll be doing a conversion or buying a hiboost kit.

It's great looking minus the wheels. I've always liked the 6 interior and this will just be another step up. However, just like every mazda vehicle, it's underpowered by current standards.

The RX-8 wheels don't fit the 6's right?

I wish they did, I'd just get the dealer to swap em.
To be honest Newf I'm not even sure if the wheels we have seen from the shows are going to be the stock north american wheels so maybe it won't be an issue?

(notcool) It's a mazda.... LOL. J/K

I thinks it's nice, they should make it as a wagon. That'd be awesome.

You know, it never occurd to me until just now, but that center console is different from a normal 6. the stereo is a seperate unit. I wonder what size DIN that is.

Good point. But, they do have it on the Mazdausa site, and those are the wheels on that site. If history is any indication, that'll be the final look. They did do this with the MSP/MSM.

I thought the pics on Mazda USA were the ones of the MPS6 (Mazda Performance Series)...

They changed the wheels from the press photos of the MPS Protege with the MP3, and the slightly changed them again for the MSP.

WEll, it wouldn't be a bad thing if they did change em

They should change the shifter as well. The shifter on the 6 is WAYY too tall. So is the one on the 3

I think they should have used the 3.0>2.3l, there would be so much more power and i would be extremely interested... or i guess the motor in an awd 3 would be nice... On another note how effective is that tmic, i dont see any way of it getting air and its sitting on top of a hot motor.

If they did a Racing Hart five-spoke like the other MS cars, it would be nice...Tie the product line together some.

As for the shifter, I'm thinking they are trying to keep the knob close to the steering wheel. Which is a better location for performance driving.

I realize tall shifters are lame, but I think the Mazda3 and 6 would look like ass if it had a cheesy shifter like the Civic Si up on the dash...
