No, to each his own!

I was just noting that they actually changed that shifter in 2014.

You're talking me into keeping my '14 CD and you know what- ain't such a bad thing now is it?
Nice write-up.
But we'll have to disagree about the gated shifter, as I can't stand the looks of them. Way too busy for an Automatic. In fact I refused to even look at the early CX5s for that reason alone.
Blasphemy!
Nice write up CD. I want to meet the guy that thought "Leatherette" was a great name for that....

..and I thought I was a picky pain in the ass..wow! Thank you! What I like about it is I never need to look down to see where I'm at- like most of the car its very intuitive and driver friendly- also like not having to press anything other than the brake pedal to shift it- just a very basic and unfussy shift knob. Yeah it could definitely look better but it works beautifully and is kind of a tribute to manuals in a way. If I could choose between losing shifter or the manual handbrake I would probably keep the handbrake instead though admittedly.

For me it's just the feel of it.You're most welcome!
But, its an automatic. How often do you have to "look down" at it while driving? (uhm)
For me? Never.
Pushing a button is an inconvenience? First world problems I guess. (drive)
Oh I hate that fake stitching around your info screen too(fight)

I agree! If you still need to do a Swedish flick, or have fun in the snowy parking lot, or in the event of an emergency, you can still apply the ELECTRIC BRAKE by continuously pulling UP on the button.Electric hand brake was added to free up space in the cabin and also reduce weight buy not having the mechanicals of the manual handbrake.
Just be glad it's not a foot operated handbrake! (rlaugh)
