It's not taxing obese people. It's taxing food and products that knowingly cause weight problems and other health issues. People with thyroid problems don't have to eat that stuff, and wouldn't be taxed. Great idea, if you ask me, but a bad name to descibe it. Maybe the "Crappy Food and Drink Tax" would suit it better.
I also think there needs to be a bigger tax on tobacco and other bad-health products. Stupid ******* Tennessee government won't consider it - "There's too many tobacco farmers that would be affected by a drop in sales and an increase in taxes". bulls***, you're telling me that the ******* dirt can't grow anything but smoke? Put a ******* tax on that s***, some people will quit = better health for some, and those that don't will have to fund an increase in state income, to be used for 2 purposes: First, work on healthcare to pay for those with health problems due to smoking and other bad health issues (fund your own healthcare through taxes on your own product) and 2 - get the farmers growing something besides tobacco.
That's a long damn rant that nobody will read, but I just hate people blaming everyone else for their own s***.
