Way too sensative factory alarm.

All right guys. I just picked up my MS Protege yeserday. Im absolutely lovin it! The only issue is the factory alarm. I live right by a busy road and everytime a car with a load enough exhaust drives by it goes off. Its way too sensative. The people next door have already complained about it and its only been one day. Is this something I can fix myself or do I have to drive out to Mazda and have then take care of it?

Underneath your steering column there is the black box for the alarm. It has a knob on it that you can turn down to reduce the sensitivity. I wish I knew this before I bought a new alarm. Oh well.
