water pump going.....

sigh, i love to hate this car lol

noticed a new sound lastnight on the way home, yay 4 me. ok, only happens while on the gas. its a rattling sound. when the motors cold its at about 1500-3000 rpm. when its at running temp its at about 2300 rpm. comes from the belt side of the engine. no performance loss, no over heating. i say water pump because my friends carollas water pump went an it kinda fit the same description.

anybody have anything 2 say?

Take off the 2 accessory belts one at a time and start the car. May help you pinpoint it a little better before you dive under the timing cover for a pump.

a bad water pump could also be rod bearing spinning too.

is there any way to tell if its a rod bearing? how long do they make noise before causing damage?

well if you have any doubt, stop driving the car and get it to a mechanic asap.
