warning, RANT inside...

I think that you did the right thing. Unless you are prepared to elevate it to a possible homicide situation, which is crazy unless your life is really in jeopardy, its best to move on. You could still call it in since you have the license plate/car information. Throwing a missile or object from a moving vehicle citation is just what that punk needs.

I have a lot of respect for you man. Good job on keeping your cool. There is just no telling what's next now a days. How did he not know YOU had a gun? I often feel like rolling my window down and politely enlightening these idiots how to drive; in a non-confrontational manner. However, even if you have the best intentions to calmy and politely tell someone, "could you please move up a few feet so you can free up the turn lane next to you so others can get by", you don't know if they'll fly off the handle over that. It's just not worth the risk imo. The farthest I've gone is tail people on the highway long enough to phone their plate into FHP, then back off them.

Again, good for you for rising above. No worries man, he'll get what's coming to him soon enough... karma is a b****!

I'm getting fired up just thinking about it...something about driving makes people so angry.

Im so pissed right now, I just had to get this off my chest....

driving home from work today I am pulling away from a stoplight and im behind an audi s4. I have a soft spot for these cars so I was following him close and checking out the car. We maybe go 200 yards and he pulls over to let me pass him, so im thinking, s*** I guess I was following too close, oh well. So I just mosey past him, feeling like a jerk, when all the sudden hes weaving all over the road behind me trying to ride my ass in retalliation. What an ass....So at the next light, Im goin straight and he pulls along side and starts screaming at me: "You were tailgating the wrong motha f#$ker, you little prick... why dont you pull over and we can settle this..."

I of course am no little prick at 6'2 220, so the thought crossed my mind to get out and see just how tough this dude is. But then again, Im no match for a gun so I just yelled back, "get lost asshole." Well obviously that set him off, he reached down and grabbed a full coffee or soda or something and chucked it at my open window and peeled out thru traffic in front of me. I am SOOO pissed, what kind of an asshole does that, I didnt even think I was following that close! argh, lucky for me most of the mess stayed outside the car and a quick wash cleared it up, but damn, not the way I wanted to start my weekend.

If youre ever in delaware and see a blue S4 with tags 533530, be sure to give him a piece of your mind for me....

That dude is lucky, I am one of those people who carry a gun (and am licensed to do so) and in your situation you would probably be justified in shooting him for what he said, the way he acted, and the fact that he started suspiciously reaching around his car while telling you "let's settle this"...If it were me I would have reacted differently and I have to give you props for not letting it get out of hand.

Like I said, how did this guy not know that Jbiird didn't have a gun? crazy world...

C'mon Crash, you have a permit to carry, not necessarliy use it. In most states/courts words are not enough to justifiably shoot someone.

"Verbal threats are not enough to justify the use of deadly force. There must be an overt act by the person which indicates that he immediately intends to carry out the threat. The person threatened must reasonably believe that he will be killed or suffer serious bodily harm if he does not immediately take the life of his adversary."

Spouting off and launching an object or missile does not constitute justification to take someone out. At least not legally or using any reasonable logic.

He has a permit to carry, and yet apparently isn't smart enough to know when and how a weapon should be used. Hint: pissed off because some idiot yelled at you in public isn't even remotely close.

Am I reading some strange bizarro message board? Some jackass gets a little road rage, somebody acts like a responsible person and walks away, and you've got people on here suggesting vandalism or even pulling a gun to address the situation? Am I the only one who thinks this is more than a little stupid?

You must have forgotten that this is the internet...Al Gore would be mad at you right now.

I agree and you're right, when it comes to level-headed people. The problem is, some people aren't level-headed (esp. when attacked) and that guy in the Audi will probably get the chance to meet someone who will put him 6-feet under one day.

Throwing something at someone is crossing a line that could lead to a very bad situation. I don't know how I'd react if that happened to me. Road rage is pretty common here but it usually never escalates to anything more than hand gestures or profanity.

wait chapel st??

dude you can only ever do like 40 mph TOPS... who gives a s*** if someone is riding your bumper...

wow - the situation is a little different now. that guy was just an asshat
(even moreso than before).

I would find it amusing if he would be ghosted by more than a few mazdas...

everytime he turns over his shoulder, he will find a mazda stalking slowly behind.

get bent dude, obviously you havent ever been in a threatening situation before. I was stabbed when out of the country and have had a gun jammed in my gut before. If someone is violently screaming at me while reaching around on the floor of their car frantically you bet i'd draw my gun. Ok maybe I am not justified in using it, you got me there, but I would certainly use it to shut the dude the **** up and to protect myself from what he is reaching for, gun or not, you dont know what it is until it's in his hand.

It's the internet and people are venting over road rage...you would have to be an idiot to take these things seriously...but happy and angry you should remember that when you pull up to someone like myself on the road who has quick access to a gun your personal theory on whether or not someone is justified in using their weapon isnt going to matter because they are either going to shoot or not shoot. Take your chances.

People talking about trying to find the guy on Audi message boards, and you talking about waving a gun around to defuse road rage situation pretty much defines idiocy.

That you think you would be justified in escalating the situation with a weapon is fairly telling. You wouldn't use it, you'd just point it at him to shut him up, because some angry dude on the highway yelling impotently at you needs to be shut the hell up, AMIRITE?

What happens when you see a guy reach for something in his car, pull a gun on him, and then look over to realize it was a badge, or a cup of coffee, or a pen? What happens you pull your gun and that other guy says "s***, I gotta PROTECT MYSELF!" and pulls his own? Most people in this thread had it right when they said "Good job not making the situation worse." You're just a paranoid lunatic with a gun.

yeah i would never dream of using a gun in this situation, but ppl like crashkelly are exactly why i just let it go rather than escalate. You never know what kind of asshat thinks a yelling match over something dumb like this needs to go to that level.

FWIW, the street was a 25mph zone, we were maybe doing 30 when all this went down....

LOL at some people!
A TL driver(more like asshole), decided that he wanted to go in the next lane on the freeway after I did, and tried to do it before, he gunned it, and I didn't even notice, and he was a total ass about it, got infront of me, and stopped traffic, then accelerating, following him slamming on the brakes(about five times), so I could run into him fortunately, the CX-7 has great stopping power, greater than that of the TL's, the freeway was jammed (A good thing..) he started following me and whatever, so I lead him off the freeway and into some turns, it looks like he couldn't pull them off as fast as me(TL was dropped, looked like he had rubbing problems), because he lagged behind, and then, I lead him back on the freeway, in a circle, LOL he stopped following me after the 2nd run around, when he flipped me off, I laughed, Road Rage really doesn't get to me, and it shouldn't get to anyone else, unless it becomes very serious.

Like, pulling out gun's, wrecking into people.

Damn that dude (Audi Driver) needs an Ego tune.

I'd like to think I'd stay cool, but when the heat is on it's difficult to always do the right/safe thing. Pulling a gun while on the road is a mistake that can be prevented by not having the gun in your car in the first place.

Uh...yeah..CrashKelly....you're borderline nuts to think that pulling a gun on someone while driving is justified. I personally recommend you either go to anger management or go to a shooting school.( the first thing they teach you is not to shoot or point your gun at people without a justifiable cause.. yours is not justifiable) ( Your best weapon is your brain...think about the situation and the best way to handle... **** what your pride says)
But I do commend the OP for not flipping out and following the jerk to his house. I would've call the cops though.

Typical Audi driver, Just because they drive an unreliable but expensive car they think they are better than the rest of us...
See them every day here in Europe (notcool)
