Anyone local have a spring compressor or a fender roller?
I'll try my chances here before I rent one/take out a baseball bat

You can get a spring compressor from Discount Auto or AutoZone. They temporarily charge your credit card $40 bucks, then fully re-credit it to you when you bring it back.

so the rental would end up being free?

Cool. Free soundz good. However, I'm more concerned with getting the struts in and out. Never seen it done before.

its a breeze. ive done it without a compressor (wouldnt recommend it, but its not that bad). the stock springs arnt tightened that heavily. it took me maybe 3 hrs the first time and 2 the second once i knew what i was doing (did it on 2 different proteges)

We did it without a compressor on my msp. I had never done a spring install before, but it's pretty straight forward. I used a how-to from the forum.

You know what they say about big balls... just makes you a bigger target for a projectile spring!

I'll search for the How-to. I'll put a credit card down for spring compressors Saturday morning, Prodigy. I'll call ahead and make sure they have them.

I got big balls myself but I'd rather not lose them to a flying spring. :D

no seriously we tryed shooting them off the struts...they arent that heavily sprung. but i used a impact on the new ones i installed, i wouldnt even try it with those.

Chris, I have a set of spring compressors if you'd like to borrow them.

If you do rent them from AutoZone, make sure you get the kind that looks almost like a 'C' Clamp. They have two kinds. One kind, goes up inside the spring and won't work.

Thanks guys for the advice. I got ahold of some spring compressors fromm a friend.
end links = b**** to get off
we stripped two nuts.. and didnt have enough time to install Christian's springs/struts/sway.

Install part II will be next sat
I still have to toss in my RB rear sway.

A frustrating day installing parts is better than the best day at work. :D

That's actually a damn good point.

It was good to hang out with you guys for a bit today.

Thanks for the help all. My alignment guy said he knock the bolts off me swaybar endlinks (to save us that nightmare-- then it should be a sub 2-hour job I guess). Would I want all the endlink bolts taken off or just the bolts attached to the old struts? Just 4 bolts right? And just tape up the endlinks? Actually I'm going to put in the AWR so I guess I'll just ask them to completely pull out the rear sway and duct tape up the fronts.

Yeah..
Front: Remove the nut holding the endling to the stock strut
Rear: remove all if you want
