Want to move to upstate New York

I am trying to move to upstate New York in the Spring and I am wondering if any of you locals could recommend nice areas. I want to be close to where I can snowboard and rock climb. Other than that I just want a medium sized city. Any ideas? Oh yea, does anyone know of websites in the area where I can look at properties and houses for sale?

I prefer somewhere downstate. Less snow. Like westchester or rockland county are nice. They're not far away from the slope. 1.5 hrs away from Hunter Mountain.

Rochester is a GREAT city. The nicest in upstate.

Hey, I was in Saugerties today visiting my mom...in fact, I grew up there! Nice town very close to the Catskills (kinda in the Catskills) - near all the good ski places...prices are A LOT cheaper than Rockland or Westchester.

The desire to get the hell out of Michigan is bringing me to New York. Thankfully I work in healthcare so getting a job isn't all that difficult. Any websites for houses in the area??

Oh yea, not downstate. I'd rather be close to the mountains than the city.

My suggestion is the Syracuse area, unless you want to be closer to the City.

If you want to be close to the mountains Id suggest the Green County/outer limits of Albany County area. You're in the hills but yet only about 30 minutes from Albany. Its where my parents live and its rural but not where you are too far from civilization. Its REALLY nice. Beautiful scenery, quiet, great for animals if your into them (like me lol) and close enough to stuff you need.

Potato Skin Pizza is the best....IMO. See man lots to look forward to. That Chicago style pizza that we have in MI is nothing compared to what we have in NY state.
